argh! hit =[

=[ ok story time!
so i get my car back from the paint shop yesterday, got the hood and front bumper painted. $616. and it took them 2 *** damn weeks, they were super busy.
k newayz! so i just get it back, n the next day (today) im at the doctors office, n some guy comes in n is like. anyone here have a black camaro or firebird or something? n im like. oh **** =[
so i go out n hes scratched my front bumper =[ .. but atleast he came in now. so hes guna pay for it. cant believe theyre guna charge 600 bucks for this.
what sucks most is i'll prolly have to wait another damn 2 weeks for it to be done! argh! so upsetting.
check it out theres a few pics up there on the left hand side. pic 3 shows the damage the best i think.

I know it sucks when something like that happens... but I don't really see a need to complain about it. The guy was nice enough to come in and find you and offer to pay for it without the hassle (for both of you) of going through insurance. 2 weeks sounds pretty standard to me to get parts painted, and the damage to your car is straight down to the urethane on the bumper cover, so $600 doesn't sound completely off the scale, albeit a tad high.

All in all, you made out alright, man. Thank the guy when everything is over.

Consider yourself extremely lucky, friend. The vast majority of folks would just keep on going, especially with such a minor scrape as that.

I once was in a parking lot, sitting with my girlfriend in the '91, when I saw a woman carelessly throw her SUV door into a car parked next to hers. Left a giant dent in the car....all she did was carefully check her door for damage, then leave quite quickly. I took her tag number, wrote a brief description of what happened and left it on the car's windshield. Who knows what good it did, especially since I didn't give my name as a witness. But at least the owner had some recourse!

About time someone shows those wheels on a car. First I've seen at least. Looks pretty good.

Sucks about the car though. Lucky he came and asked. Just make sure you get everything.. info and stuff... there was another recent thread about under the table payments for a hit and everyone was saying "don't do it like that" heh

Yeah, you got really lucky! My wife drove an 86 Deville for over 5 years. Nothing ever happened to that old thing. Then on the 10th, I bought her a 99 Chevy Tahoe. Burgundy in color, and MINT condition! The day after we bought it, this fat bastard is a minivan slammed the hell out of it with his door and just kind of looked at us and walked off. I jumped out and chewed his ***. It didn't do any damage. Then, last Friday, my wife was driving home from work, and some old lady all drugged up on meds pulled into my wifes lane and slammed her crown vic into the drivers side of the tahoe. She was so screwed up, she didn't realize she had hit anything and kept trying to pull into the lane. My wife was already in front of her. My wife hit the brakes, but the lady was still trying to move over and accelerate at the same time! ARGH! You can see where her sideview mirror hit our left rear quarter panel. The lady was 79 years old and had her MOM in the car with her! They were both older than the hills and not even aware of their own existence. At least she had insurance. Talk about some damage. We don't even have a tag on the Tahoe yet. I'm just about sick over it! Matt

you're better off bringing it in on the car. When they paint the bumper they'll also blend the paint into the hood and fenders a bit so you don't see a difference in the colors. Also you don't want to take it off and on with new paint... why chance having it flex and crack if you don't have to.
