Removing scratch from windshield

I have a scratch on my windshield from when the previous owner had it. Looks like something was stuck in the wiper and it put a big scratch on it along the line of where the wiper is. I know there has got to be a way to take the scratch out w/o getting a new windshield. How much would it cost to get it taken out by a glass place or something along the lines of that? Is there a "do it yourself" thing out there for that? As always all help is appreciated!

There are some polishes for windshields that are designed to take out “small” scratches. If it were a serious scratch I would take it to a glass shop or maybe a detail shop and ask their opinion.

I have used Zaino’s glass polish and it works but mostly just removes small pits, scratches and contamination.

Had the same problem. I took the car to automotive glass repair shop where the scratch was fixed for $20. It was simply polished out, which means that the line of the scratch is still there.

Its really to bad that you don't live near me, I work for 3M and work with glass abrasives and I could remove it for free.

We use fine abrasives and then polish it out.

It's a pretty deep scratch on there. I'll probably end up taking it to a glass shop and see what they can do. If they could do it for $20 I'd be happy!

Worked great.
