I have painted the block, heads, valve covers, and oil pan GM blue. I want to know if i should also paint my pulleys blue or leave them black. I will let this thread decide. Thanks

What if i stripped all the black paint off the pulleys i have and clear coat over the bare metal(so it wont rust)? How would that look?

I'm still working on this site, so be patient, but it is about the changes I have done to the engine bay as far as looks only....
Raif engine details
I have a candy apple painted block, tranny, heads, oil pan, lower intake and runners....
What I did was replace what I could, pulley wise, with billet pulleys...or got some billet pulley covers. The rest were painted candy apple red...I threw in some chrome touches to help keep things balanced...There was very little black remaining...but I painted my engine bay satin black, so the C.A.red is contrasted against that.
To answer the clearing of stripped pulleys....nope. I would not recommend it. I have had tons of probs with the red chipping thru normal wear and tear and maitenance...
See if your clear chipped, it would rust...so you would have a nice pulley with rust spots...

As Redraif said, we painted some of the pullies on her car...and frankly I'll never do it again. The pullies practically chip before you can get them on the car. Its too much work for something that will get chipped in no time.If you have to have colored pullies (no aluminum ones available for your application), powdercoat them.

I would leave them black. Too much accent color can be a bad thing. :nono:
when i first put my engine together i painted all the pullies....big mistake. the paint would actually start to move and fly off the surface at extreme rpm's. the next winter i had mine bead blasted and powder coated. well worth the money, dont waste time by painting them
