Is the purple too much?

When I started building this motor I decided to paint it purple since it's my wifes favorite color. Is it too much? Opinions?

the purple seems a little light maybe a darker purple would look better. although thats just my opinion.

I wanted it darker but that was the darkest "engine paint" I could find. The car is maroon right now. It'll black as soon as I get the money.

with a black car it might not be to bad, put some ( i hate to say this) purple "under car" lights and match the interior with a little bit of it and it might look pretty sweet, or when you o paint it black get some low profile ghost purple flames, just to compliment the engine lol....i unno throwing some ideas around

Thanks for the replies. It's too late to change it even if I wanted to but I was curious.

I'd normally say I don't like it, but with a black car it could look pretty good. Its the first time I've seen an engine actually purple but at shows I've seen plenty of black cars with purplish inner fenders and it looked good, so I can't see the effect of having the engine purple being any different.

I thought about that but figured it would be expensive. Does anyone know what having stuff anodized costs?

i don't care what anyone says, my g/f will never ever dictate the color of my engine.

outside of the car is a different story, but not the engine.

If my gf/wife looked like this, she could dictate anything she wanted to me:

Hell, after 12 years of marriage I still find my wife pretty hot.

Just sayin'.

The color of the engine is fine IMO.

..my 87 is 'deep purple peral'

And while we're on it, it was my last gf who convinced me to keep my stock muffler on the TA and just get a cutout for it. She hated riding in the 87 with the flowmaster setup.

That's not all she did though, I also kept a package of hair elastics in the passenger door pocket so when we rode with the windows down, her hair wouldnt go everywhere.

That looks to be exact same color! The can looks the same anyway.
BTW, my wife didn't dictate anything. I just couldn't decide what color to paint the block. I knew I didn't want black or orange though. While I was at the store trying to decide I remebered her favorite color was purple. They had purple engine paint so I figured why not?

I think it'll look decent, especially when the car is black.

in my opinion it looks good, but just because its painted, not b/c its purple. I think almost any color will look nice as long as you do a good clean job and dont have a bunch of diferent colors. The main thing i like is that it looks "clean" as oposed to bare metal.

it looks better than stock

No it's not a crate. I picked up a L98 longblock and rebuilt it.
Also, no it doesn't match anything else yet.

nice work, but my colour for engines (as long as it is a chevy/pontiac block) is light blue! like the original colour was.

Car: Gunmetal Grey 89 RS. EDIT: Paul is gone (who had an untimely death) and now I have Roddy (purple 92 RS)...and YES they have GUY names :)

That purple is beautiful. I now have a purple 92 so that would look absolutely lovely under my hood. I've always liked purple though. You did good with that color.

i like it, its just an engine and i dont think most people would worry about the color of it, thats almost like me walking down the hallway at school the other day and heard a group of chicks talking about cars; 'i want a red one!' 'oh red is cool but i want a yellow one!' 'oh and it has to be a 2 door!'

you can get 'purple power' windshield washer fluid at walmart to match , that stuff works good too!
