Interesting touch, but they dont seem to match the colors though..

Is that a SS sticker I see?

 

yeah it is ,i put together 2 ss`s from one of those chrome lettering kits from autozone plus one of their bowtie emblems.i thought it was alot cheaper than paying 30 to 50 bucks for just the ss`s of ebay

 

the stripes look better in person and the best part about them it only cost me 50 bucks.10 cans of 97 cent walmart gloss black and 10 cans of the clear.as far as how long it`s lasted i painted them a year ago and it`s stood up to arizona heat so i guess it was worth it

 

oh yeah about 10 bucks for the white stripes

you`d actually be surprised how many people think it`s pretty cool.i get that alot.they say it`s quite original.i`ll probably have the "GASHOLE" done up in better letters but i think it will be ok for now

 

I think it is a cool idea, but it looks like you used a silver and black permenant marker to draw it up. A++++++ for originallity.

yeah u got me there,it is black and siver markers,i figured it would work until i get an air brush set and do it up real nice.thanx for the comps guys

 

and for as far as originality i really wanted something I KNEW not very many people have done on this board.it seems like everytime i think i had an original idea i look on here and at least 20 people have done it .so i figured why not

It's original, but I would lose all the "ss" stuff. Stripes are a bit wide for me, but good effort on a limited budget!

Werd. Anybody that knows anything about Chevies or Camaros will know your car isn't an SS and proceed with laughing at you.

 

I agree that it looks tacky, but its not my car. And I don't like the fake SS badging either... its one thing if a car has something to back it up, but just using a generic Autozone lettering kit doesn't cut it for me. Just my opinion though

 

that seems to fit the drag look best, or pro street. if thats the overall look your going to achieve, it fits good. else i wouldnt do it. LOL very original.

Umm...proceed with laughing at him huh? Well thats a little harsh. I know for a fact that no one laughs at TPIroc's car for having the SS badges on there. Its all a matter of one's personal judgement. He likes it so thats what matters.

Well, I think TPIroc has a great well done car, but the phony "SS" badges definetly take away from the car.

On another note, how is that any different from your average ryce kid slapping a "GTR" badge on the back of his neon?

 

ouch guys i appreciate your opinions but man i`m not trying to to be a **** runner or anything but hey the biggest reason i did it was to be different than everybody else.yeah i know right know i don`t have the power to back the SS badges but who know what lies in the future for the pony stomper.as for how wide the stripes were i didn`t want them to be to skinny like those fake one`s you see from auto zone (yeah alittle hypocrisy never killed any one)but hey i still like the fact that at least i`m trying something different.

i know it does look alittle tacky but as i said before i`m going to airbrush it later so hopefully then it won`t look that bad.but thanx for the info keep `em coming guys

 

i wanna see somone completly shave the gas door, and have the filler neck in the hatch area, like under the interior panels...thats just me though

what do you guys think of that idea?

edit: not my thing...i understand you dont have and airbrush or anything...but why not just wait untill you do?? i dont understand using a marker on a car......but it is original...i'll give you that.

 

hey that would be pretty cool but wouldn`t u get tired of having to open the hatch put gas in your car,but hey if it`s done up nice i think it would be awesome

 

the marker was purely for mock up purposes(and plus i was bored as hell)

 

wasnt thinking of that....i guess it wouldnt be practical for a daily driver...but it would be sweet on a show car or weekend cruiser..

another thing i was thinking of for your car is what if you had a small hatch in your glass .you probably have to have a lexan hatch though

 

just had an awsome brainstorm...what if one side of the taillights folded out, and the gas cap was there? like on the 57 chevys

 

now i think that would be pretty sweet.would you want them motor controlled on manually opened?

It's been done before, redraif did it. Hope you like the smell of gas constantly going down the road.

yea, it SOUNDS like a good i dea, but in all reality, its not.

yeah,it's not too bright of an idea. though the flip down tail light idea is not much better.I don't know how they did it with the '57 chevy but if any fumes escapes the cap while pressing on the brakes...BOOM!!

 

its not like the gas cap would be in with the lights bulbs...i was thinking behind the whole tailight assembly., and the whole assembly would flip out, not just the lense.

 

Oh I knew what you all were talking about,seen the '56-7 Chevy thing in person,my concern was that someone may blow themselves up if they did a hack job or the gas cap leaked fumes.

 

Graboid shaved his gas door too.. looks good but I don't know if I would do it.
