Black wheels ok?

alright, two things:

1. i am going to paint the car all red, will the black wheels look ok, or should i paint the spokes a lighter grey color?

2. seriously thinking about chopping 1/2-1 coil off the front springs, good idea? look good?

I like it either way. I also like the ones on TunedPort335's too. I say either way, they'd look great for 15"s.

Black wheels look great on cars. I really like the ones with a polished lip. I would not cut your stock springs. Age and wear alone have played their toll on them and there is no need to be unsafe when aftermarket ones can be had for so cheap.

i don't know of any other way to lower this car. aftermarket springs are way too stiff for drag racing with any kind of comeptitiveness. besides, i only want to lower the front about 1/2" to help the fender gap with the little front tire. the back looks great imho. the wheels are staying stock though for now, aftermarket are just too expensive. whitez406 has a pair i might buy, but a cowl hood is definetly next.

Back of the car:

black rims only look good on black cars, imho- and that's on a car-by-car basis. The only time they look OK on other cars is if they're not solid black. Your car as it is right now, looks decent with the black on the bottom, and the rims not being solid black.

Eibach makes drag launch springs tailored for drag type applications. They are effective enough to stray from using them on the street.

There is nothing cool about black wheels on a car... it just makes it look like you lost your hubcaps. The whole "trend" came from actual race cars that painted the wheels black just because they were sick of cleaning off brake dust. On a street car that you are trying to make look good... there is no reason to paint your wheels black.... this trend needs to die.

Honestly, I like black painted wheels, especially on your car. Its got attitude IMO.

My cousin's 1963 Galaxie 500 had some nasty looking steel wheels when he got it. He replaced them with some gloss-black painted 15x8 steelies, and it looks baaaad now

....

There are a lot of other things I would do to your car before I worried about the rims.

Like those rear tires with tractor sized sidewalls, with the white lettering showing for instance.

Bet hey, that's just me.

I like black wheels, especially on black, grey, and red cars.

purpose for the tall tires:
1. i don't really like the look of these cars without the tire filling up the fender well. this can be accomplished one of two ways:
a. bigger tires
b. lowering (not an option in my case because of the dual exhaust)
2. the 275/60/15 makes one heck of a good traction device compared to my 235/60/15's i used to have
3. the car has 4.10's in it, and given the rollout of the tire, it matches my combo better

the white letter would go on the inside if i had a grey or polished rim (ie drag lites) but with the black rims, the white letters help to break up the side wall and not look too tractor tireish.
