my 84 T/A in flames??? Concept pics inside

These pics are an idea I had for my paintjob. As some of you know, my engine compartment is already painted in Platinum and the rest of the body remains to be painted. The unshaded parts in the sketch would be platinum and the shaded ones could be black or possibly a gunmetal grey type color... I'm even considering ghosting the front and hoodbird and dropping the rear flames.

I want all of your input on this! If i were set on it, i wouldn't show it 'til it's done, but I'm putting this out there and get some feedback and bounce some ideas around. lets hear what you have to say...

here is the initial sketch I made that got this idea going. If it isn't obvious, that's an ASCD Ram Air 1 hood. It's a bit rough, I spent much more time on the above sketch.

Jeremy, you know i'd love it.. your idea reminds me of what Matt did with Paulys car... i think it would look great.

I wouldnt bring the flames back that far, make them end somewhere in the door.. I think that would look better

even though those silver/red flames look good, there a little to symetrical for me.

Chris, there is no doubt that Pauly's car influenced me when drawing this up. At this point, I'm leaning towards dropping the rear flames and ghosting in the front flames and hoodbird. Maybe a little bit of a more pure silver on the tips to make them pop. I think reverse ghosting (just made that term up!) the flame from the fender vent would look really unique.

PS- I love both you and Paul's Camaros. Can't wait to see them this coming summer. see you in the burnout pit at Summer Nationals

I think those would look cool. As for the hood bird, I think it might be a little too much but its hard to tell from a drawing.

i say drop the rear flames, ghost the hood bird and go with the gunmetal type color for the flames. I think that will look pretty sweet. Cant wait to see the final product

That looks pretty complicated, I think gunmetaly grey will look the prettiest with the platnum for a true two tone effect.

LOL, the best comment yet. I did the hood first in pen in a matter of minutes. Then i spent hours doing the side picture and using a pencil sure helps! I was gonna redraw it, but i think it gets the idea across still. I appreciate all of the comments and ideas so far.

Its the stock 82-83 fiberglass hood with an '82 (i think) scoop from a Mustang Looks really good though, IMO.

The only thing I'm not real crazy about is the little flame coming out the fender vent. But other the paint job itself is very similar to what I am wanting to do.

Drop the hood bird, and make your flames narrower, and the sweeps longer (if that makes sense). As drawn, the flames look too small with that color break. Otherwise, I say GO FOR IT.
