IMO, 18's definately look better than 20's. It's not an Escalade!

i would say 15's but since thats not a choice, DEFINITELY NOT 20's, have you seen the pics of the thirdgens on 20's? they look RETARDED i don't think 18's would be near as bad though.

I'm currently running the 16's I bought from 91niterida'. Click link in sig. I have 20x9's and 18x8's coming to replace them. My car is lowered and I know how to drive it. If you are careful and don't drive like an idiot(Hitting potholes at speed) you will be fine with 20's on the back.

What springs are you using? Thats a nice stance. I just got a set of 18's, should have them on by thurs. But I'm afraid its gonna look like its on stilts.

Whoops, looked at you web page i see they are Ground control's do you have a P/N and how much were they?

Not my car, I would never put that type of grill on a 3rd gen.
This 18/20 combo'd 3rd gen is one of my favorites, and the only 20ed one that looks right.

I think those ground controlls are coilovers. Seems like to much work. May end up going the sawsall route.

i say 18's, sinced the 20's are not avaiable in a decent width, 20x8 or 9 looks bad, they should be 11x20 in the back.....

I have 18s as well
THE only advantage I see to 20s is you can get them in 20x9
I wish the 18s were 9 or even 9.5" wide

Ground Control Weight Jacks are not coilovers. They sit under the spring and allow you to adjust the ride height. I'm actually a pretty big fan of the Weight Jacks although I think Ground Control charges a little too much for them. I've seen basically the same stuff for much cheaper through other companies. Only downside is that those places dont assemble the unit (which means you gotta take it to a welder) and its sold piece by piece (which means you have to know how it works and have measurements). I kinda learned about that after the fact, so I'm running GC Weight Jacks on my 91 Z28. They work awesome, they've allowed me to achieve the perfect stance with my 18's and keep the spring rates I wanted, but in the back of my mind I felt like I got ripped off. I was kinda anti GC but somehow I come across a mad deal on Ebay and caved in, so i'll be running the GC Weight Jacks on my 89 IROC-Z too. Just blind luck. I'd say if you dont find a deal somewhere, try a search for 'weight jack' on google.

i put 20's on my vert. but their not irocs. I wanted the irocs but didnt have that kind of money to spend. i think i like the ones i have now more than the irocs. either way i say 20's. They looked like crap on my 97 SS. all depends on the car.

I just got the car and i have a lot of work ahead of me so please dont bash my 10 different color car. thanks

Wow...that does look trick. This is the right way to do it!
See how low that thing is! All the other 20's are sitting high in the sky. WIth big wheels, even 18's you need to slam the car so it makes the wheel/tire combo flow with the car.
Of course, the work involved in setting up the suspension so that the tires dont rub, or your car doesn't bottom out is pain staking. Just with my 18's it took me about 3-4 mos of going through 3 different set of springs, and differnt techniques to get it where it is at now. Not to mention extensively re-working the front fenders! Now it does not even rub, or bottm out, and the ride is almost tolerable.
I must give you props, that is one of a very few handful of 20's I have seen on a IROC that I admire.

Keep up the good job!

Tommy

I got my first IROC comment. It's in fact a 1991 RS. It does look like an iroc tho without any emblems or the front grille. I'm glad everyone seems to like the way it looks. I do have some more pics. It stinks i can only post one at a time.

[EDIT] the list of pics isnt working for me, let me know if their not working for you and i'll just throw a link up.

My car look like it's been through hell and back a few times. when the weather get better here in ohio i'm going to finnish up the body work and get her painted back to the same blue. and i'm in need of a top.

My two cents:

third gens look best with 17 X 9.5 inch wheels on all four corners.

Here are a few finished pics of my 91 camaro on 18s and 245/45/18 Goodyear KDW tires.I was rubbing like crazy when i had 255/45/18s but with my new 245/45/18s,i have a tolerable ride and no rubbing...

BTW,im riding on Eibach sportlines also.

and looking at it a little more, jer, in my opinion, the car is slammed a little too much. little too low in front, looks like you'd have massive tire rub up there. but other than that, I love it, even with the primer.

in a way your right. I'm having some front end trouble, has nothing to do with the springs or the wheels and tires. It seems that the car was wrecked it the past and wasn't fixed the way it should have been, the drivers side sits perfect how i want it but the passenger side sags and i do rub on the fender liner, i tore it to $hit already and i dont drive the car. the drivers side is sitting on the bumpstop and i have about an inch gap on the passengerside at the bump stop? something is wrong with it, i plan on taking the front end all appart and replacing anything and everything to get it right. I have a new front nose, medal bumper support, impact support and headlight panel lined up, and i'm going to go with an SS hood. a little pulling on the frame and i'll be in business. the rears rub when i come in and out of the driveway but im not worried about that.

back to the topic of the post: i still think 20's would be better, you know if you go with the 18's you look and say to yourself i should have gone with the 20's. either way you can't go wrong. Let us know when you order them

18's are alright if you don't want to draw too much attantion. If you want more looks go with the 20's

They both look awsome. But if you are going to spend all that money a +1 doesn't make sense. I can tell you the turn in is amazing on a +2 and @ $135 a tire, abuse isn't out of the question. I dont know how much 20" tires cost but I'm sure you would have to drive like grandma', unless you hate money.

IMO, 20's are WAAAAY to much for 3rdgens, hell, even 18's are too big, 17's are perfect.
Amen to that. I like 16's too though. Any bigger than 17 and the wheels become more of the main focus than the car.

"hey look, I got a new car for my wheels!"

But it's all good, we all have our opinions and our own taste!

Mr IrocZ has one of my favorite Irocs ever, and it has 18's. They look factory though which make them stand out a little less. (which is a good thing)
