so, i wanted to get the new paint job today......
I mentioned in a thread before that i will get rid of that black and change the colour to some kind of grey.So i drove to the body/paintshop today. I arrived early, and spent the time looking at all them fancy cars, like a c6 'vette, a maserati merak, some imports (Fast and Furious style) and a orange-metallic Audi RS4 with styling and performance upgrades i have never seen before (total value of car 190+ grand......) beautiful, but not mean.
At that moment i changed my mind. I mean, having a black painted car, which is a third gen convertible (which is the most painful way to own a 82-92 f-body, vert owners know what i am talking about) can drive you nuts. BUT, black just looks mean. You don't get that with yellow ,white or blue, like it or not.
Take a look at the movies. Look at the color of the bad boys' rides, their girlfriends may drive candy apple red cars, but the mean guys always have black ones.
Leaving the car black doesn't make me become the Daywalker or Alonzo Harris of course, but hell, when i see a cool car, i admire the car itself and not the owner.

Keeping clean is only part of the hassle....the bigger part is keeping them swirl free. That's were you really have to know what you are doing.

Glad you decided to keep it black... I think it looks so perfect the way it is. If I bought another thirdgen, I'd go with black again if it wasn't going to be a daily driver. When I was looking for a new daily, I wanted silver since its quite easy to keep looking clean. But I wound up with another dark color (midnight blue) but I'm happy anyway.
I do regret buying a black toolbox, however. Never again will I do that
