re-painting Ground FX

this is the 3rd time im going to do this because the paint has chipped or peeled. but anyways instead of painting them the red that they are again i was thinking about painting them a flat black, or a flat gray. im not sure how it would go with my car but im sick of kicking down money to only have the damn things peel after a year. my car is a dark maroon. i have some pictures ill dig them up. let me know what you guys think i should do. im really dissapointed about the paint peeling this time. i started to think about just saving all summer, winter, then next spring get it painted black.

A Nice Silver would look nice as well.... pretty popular as stock trim. It looks like someone is NOT prepping these things correctly. Go to any Auto Paint supply store and buy:
1: some inexpensive wax/degreaser solvent
2: a spray can or two of "flex Primer"
3: and if you're really ****, buy some "Plastic Prep" bonding agent, but not usually necessary.
4: Of course some 320/400 wet/dry sandpaper

CLEAN the parts FIRST with the wax remover. Then proceed to sand just enough to clean-up the peeling areas and roughened up the surface... unless the existing paint is really bad... then you might want to consider stripping it down completely. Another wipe with the wax remover with clean towels. Sprey the flex primer, wet sand with 400 if necessary. If you bought the plastic prep, do that right before painting. Now you're ready for a long lasting finish coat on those GFX.
