i think a red interior looks good in white or black cars. i have a red interiour(wouldnt mind having a black one, but finding all parts in decent shape for a convertible is impossible) and a black car

That being said. Wait until you find a way to pull the engine and paint the whole car, you'll be glad you did.

If you want it bad enough, you can find the pieces. My grey stuff was all nasty and had to be replaced, so I went black. Should have pics up within the next few weeks.

My dad just got the new 05 mustang. Its black with red interior and it looks great ( the interior, not the car...
). But keep in mind this is a new interior , leather, and deep red. If your interior is the original and faded out, its probably not goign to flow. But you can make red n black work.

Black goes with anything. Like white, gray, etc. they're neutral colors.
I have the same problem with the engine bay being red. The cheap (re)paint on mine is a dark blue which looks really tacky when you open the hood.
I was actually thinking of black with red trim because I don't want a bright red "give me a ticket" Camaro. I'm followed around enough as it is.

Senior year in High School one of my best friends got a brand new Z28 - black with a red interior. Of course, this was a pretty common color combo back then.......1977.
Now, I'm not saying if you did this to your car it would like something from "That 70's Show". No, I'm just pointing out that styles and fashions change, until they change back again.
And yes, I've just shown my age. No old joke, OK? I'm only 45...which is old enough to be a father to a lot of you.
Shutting up now.
Do the black over red. Looks good.

red interiors are gross... a dark red/maroon looks ok, but red is a nasty color for an interior.

Some people like red. Maybe you could trade with some one with a different color car and be done with it. To change the paint correctly you would have to remove everything or you'll have edges showing through. Bright red edges, like on my car. If the interior is in good condition then why mess with it? Consider what you're going to find for 20 yr old interiors. It's too easy to damage parts that are removed etc.
At least add up exactly what it's going to cost before hand and then decide.

You could always rattle can the engine bay black. Take off the bottles(radiator/washer fluid) and tape the wires and engine. Clean and scuff before you paint. You will be impressed with the results.
As far as the red interiors, they scream hot rod. Keep it. That color combo is timeless.
