Im in a big hole here, I just got pulled over today for 2 things, and its complete bull****, I need legal help, what should I do???

I was traveling down a 3 lane road going with traffic at about 65-70 in a 55. Everyone was going this fast, and it was a bike cop, he was in the median with his buddies, he jumped into the street and flagged me down, without his bike. I was given a ticket for my window tint on the windshield. The strip was past the Act line thingy. And he is making me replace the whole windshield because its all tinted darker. So i have to pay for that on top of the not obeying speed signs ticket, plus getting all of my windows re tinted. How do I fight this????? is there a way out of all this, everyone got pulled over in our 5 car convoy. i dont think i was clocked considering HIS BIKE WAS FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, and HE WASNT ON IT!!!

Well tint on the windshield in most states is Illegal most tint shops can probably remove it that’s just a fix it ticket. As far as the speeding ticket they usually pull the last car in a group of cars traveling over the speed limit. Sometimes they just pick one. As far as the speeding ticket goes you could blame mechanical failure you can remove your speedo needle move it so it reads 15mph over the limit bring it to a calibration shop get the paperwork stating the speedometer is reading wrong take it home fix it bring it back have it calibrated again I have seen some friends do this to get out of reckless driving tickets. Speeding tickets are hard to get out of unless the cop just doesn’t show up during trial. Be careful if you remove your needle they break really easy! But speeding tickets here in VA that ticket will only cost you $33 I’m not sure what it is in your state.

 

good luck fighting the speeding ticket. If you were breaking the law, it's kinda hard to fight, because half of the excuses that 'sound good' really soung like crap before a judge. Cops usually pull the first car over in a convoy (think about it if they are pulled over on the road, they tag the first car, and arent 100% sure what the other cars are doing, so they usually go for the car that was tagged). I wish you luck, but in the end it's just one of those things where you shouldnt break the law unless you're prepared for the consequences......the tint strip is some bs though...I think tint laws are just an excuse to exercise authority

 

Did he give you a ticket for all your windows? Did he actually check the light transfer on the side windows...there is a tool they have to use for that. If he didn't do that just plead not guilty to that and just say that he never checked it....next the other ticket....was it Failure to obey a traffic control device? If that is the ticket he gave its the minimum ticket you can get for speeding...good luck getting that dropped...its a small offense. Still fight it though. You can probably get out of the window tinting stuff fairly easily, just pull off the windshield. The problem w/ the other one is that thats the lowest traffic violation you can get....its lower than 10 - the speed limit, so they cant really reduce it....your only chance is for them to drop it, and DA's don't like to do that.

 

Well, you have addmitted to speeding, and if you go to court and tell the judge that everyone else was speeding, I don't think its going to fly. Did he give you a speeding ticket? He could have been using a hand-held gun. There are also less than hight tech ways to tell if someone is speeding without a radar gun. And like the other post said, front window tint is not legal in most states. You can try to fight the speeding ticket. Go to court and see what happens.

 

get a lawyer my friend , its the best bet, not the cheapest , you will surely get out of it with a lawyer , i was charged with an 83 in a 55 and no front plate but my lawyer found out the officer was mistaken and it was only a parking ticket It was like 125-150 for the ticket, but no points or anything so i was happy .

 

a lawyer will probably cost more than his ticket

Well my speedo is wrong due to the rearend gear change...one DA still made me pay the fine, but did not turn it over to the state (no points)

The other time I was in traffic behind 2 semis. (4 lane rd) The first stopped to turn into a lot I stopped and waited to see if the other would go around... when he did not I pulled into the inner lane and went around. On the other side was a cop. So I had gone from a complete stop and then accel the length of a semi. The cop said I was going 60 in a 45... how does a 2.8 go from a dead stop to 60 mph in the lenth of a semi...he was lying. I brought in my Dyno sheet, GM performance figures, and timeslips to prove the car could not get up to speed this fast. All was throw out because I had no experts from GM, the track, or the dyno there...all of which would be required to have data on the calibration of there machines. Same for the shop that was working on the speedo! So my good evidence was thrown out on BS reasons! Faulty equip is no excuse he said and held the ticket valid!

On the tint...I have a medical excuse for mine...very severe migraines. Tint and windshield dressing are exhempt. Check with the state on this! I had to have a valid medical excuse from the doctor the state kept on file.

 

Here in Georgia a certain tint is already illegal, but they are trying to restrict it more. They claim it keeps the police from seeing the driver, and is also a possible safety risk for the driver. They think that the darker tint will cause less visibility and cause more accidents. My state can be retarded....

As for the speeding ticket, I had mine towrn up by a friend who is a S.T. 74 in a 55, luckly he never had to tear up another one for me.

So a bicycle cop jumps out in front of a car going 65-75, he eithier lacking a brain or has some guts man.

Me I just floor it:P not really.

 

Actually they overturned that law last year right after I had my windows done. I'm pretty sure they're reinstate, because the problem was not with the law itself, but the application of it.

 

had a cop pull me over the other day to have a discussion about teh tint and windshield vinyl. He said that the GA law is still defunct, but they are working on retooling it very soon! So I have the exhemption for a law that no longer exists. But since the law does not exist, he really could not do anything to me! He sid he really just pulled me over cause he could not see how I could see thru it. Once I showed him how you could see thru it and the vinyl was in fact not hindering my vision of the road he was cool with it. Even appologized for inconviencing me!

Add yes a tint ticket will be throw out in court if he never checked it with the device, but I would think that would only apply to a ticket regarding the darkness on the tint. If it was over the tint being too low, that has nothing to do with the testing tool. Check what law number is sited on the ticket. Look that up. Heck there maybe the off chance he sited that wrong and it could be thrown out!
