The seats are a direct bolt-in. The dash is a MAJOR project. The door panels can go on with a few modifications.

Anything is possible.

Yes it has been done but it is more than just moving the dashes there is alot of modifications that need to be done, and from the pics I've seen who did it it looks very out of place.

Yes, it is very possible, but difficult to get it right. I put the dash out of a fourth gen firebird into my 86 firebird. I have pics if you want to see them. I know of a couple of people who have done the camaro swap, and it appears to be a lot easier. I'f you really want to do it, go for it..don't let anyone tell you it is impossible.

The doorpanels! That would be sweet! I've got 4th gen charcoal/black seats in my car alreay, and I was wondering if the doorpanels would fit also. Does anyone know where I can find more information on putting the 4th gen doorpanels in my 92 RS? Thanks!!!

I was looking at my friend's 99 door panel this weekend. It attaches in a totally different manner. You'll need to cut off the tabs on the new door panel, and figure out a way to attach the push in clips that ours use. Then you'll need to reinforce the door where the arm rest bolts up. I think you'll also need to modify the door handle and door lock levers to relocate them. That'll probably be the most time consuming part, but I wouldn't expect it to be extremely difficult.

As someone already mentioned Kristian has installed a 4th Gen interior in his 87 Camaro convertible. I have an e-mail from him which shows the interior. But I don't know how to post them myself. I can forward the e-mail to someone to post a link to them. It totally floored me to see it the first time. But I'm sure it wasn't easy. He also installed the LT1 engine as well. An alternative is to e-mail Kristian for details of the installation and pic's. Later, Lon.

I don't see how those door panels are going on easy. I planned on putting them on my car, so when I go my seats I also got the panels and door handles. As Jim said the doors would need to be notched or something to attach them. Then comes the fact that there is a large protusion on the front of those panels that would crush into our dash(too much to just trim the dash pad or something) after that the panels are a tad too long and would need to get trimed. If someone has figured this all out let me know cause I still have the set of panels at my house that I would love to install.

I don't know about third gen, but I've seen a second gen camaro that had a 98-ish interior swapped into it. Leather seats, door panels, dash, console, the whole 9 yards. I don't know if it's still up, but if I can find it, I'll let everyone know.

I gotta admit, it looks better in a thirdgen than a fourthgen. I love the way that looks, but I'd never take the time to try and figure it out. If there was only a book or something.

Wouldnt that TOTALLY kill the value of the car if you did a swap like that?

Did I say I bought my car to MAKE money??? I dont think so. I said that it would probably kill the value of the car on down the years. If you put a 57 Chevy dash and interior in a 69 SS do you think it would sell for $20,000 now? I just think that it would kill the value not to say its not worth that cause it does look sweet. But I was just making a POINT

Really though, I think I like it more because it's like the 3rd kind of interior we would have. I know the swap is hard but not as hard as putting in a ford interior or some crap. I think it's also the dash curve that really turns me on to this setup. I think that interior would look great in all black leather with either red, yellow, or black exterior and on an 89 bird or 91-92 style camaro. Wow, put some of those 18x8 iroc knock off wheels on and I think I'd drop out of school for it. :-) I'm glad somebody has finally done a swap like that, it's unique yet not since it's still a camaro interior :-)
I can go on but I think I'll leave it at that.

Right click on the the file that you saved, click rename and erase the .orig and then you could open it. I've never saw that before though.

Hey, did you guys forget we have a third gen board? A spoiler or rims is pushing it, (im thinking of the spoiler for myself) but change the interior? Thats a chunk of the cars personality, why change it? Remember, this is third gen board. Anyone agree/disagree?

I agree! It seems funny to me that people want the used 4th gen. interior, wheels, hoods, spoilers, and anything else that will fit; why not just buy a used 4th gen?

Odin65, finally someone knows what im talking about. I bought a 3rd gen because i wanted a 3rd gen. Some cars are getting to the point that you're like ????. OK, so this car has 4th gen spoiler, 3rd gen rims, 4th gen interior, 1st gen engine, second gen rear lights, and 4th gen rear view mirror. So what the hell is it????

Maybe it's because my *** is larger than yours, but I find thirdgen seats to be completely worthless. It feels like I'm sitting on a lawn chair. As for other 4th gen accessories, what does it matter? I'm the "anti-accessory" advocate but come on! Generally the only type of modifications I like are those that utalize other OEM parts, and to me adding a little bit of a 4th gen influence helps modernize the car without making it look like it was attacked by an RK Sport catalog.

Hey everyone makes their car to please themselves right, so personally I think that a fourth gen. interior looks a hell of a better than the 3rd gen camaros cubistic, tacky and oldfashioned style does.. Then again I like 3rd gen body so much better..

Yeah its a third gen board , but i personally am a F body fan , from the first to today's f body , so many of you are closed minded , i can understand perfering the third gen , heck thats all iv owned, but i wouldn't turn away any firebird, so upgrading a third gen with 4 gen is fine by me its not like your putting a honda dash in . I have 4th gen leather seats and 17" ws6 wheels on mine , and it gives the car a whole new attitude, ill have pic's of it up soon

I don't have a pic or anything, but there was a body guy in Texas that took two wrecked cars and made a convertable camaro with a 4th gen dash, 88 monte carlo headlights and seats, and he made the rest of the interior.

oh yeah he made the car in a week, so it shouldn't be Tooooooooooooooo difficult, I don't know this guy was a Pro and took it to a show.

It was in Super Chevy near the begining of the summer. When I go home for Thanksgiving, I will look for the article.

Later,
Jesse

I like the looks of the thirdgen exterior more than the 4th gen styling.... 3rd gen is a badder lookin' car.

Ive seen some older cars 55/56... with digital dashes and they sell for more...

Customization is an awesome thing!

Do you really think the 4th gen interior looks all that bad? As you can tell from my earlier posts I think it's awesome. Why would you think installing a 4th gen interior is out of taste? I love the thirdgen performance, cost of mods, compatibility if you will, and of course the exterior. But when it comes to interior, it's crazy to think a 1982 berlinetta interior is more tasteful than a 4th gen. I have a feeling that most everybody would like to have the 91-92 dashs because they're more modern looking with less edges. Oh yeah, and about the seats, I know there isn't that big of a style difference but same idea right. Why would anybody want a 4th gen piece on their thirdgen, right?!? I hope this doesn't come off as offensive, if it did sorry. Just like to post my feelings and opinions. To each his (her) own.

I really would like to put 4th gen doors panels in(already have a set) but I really don't see how they would work with the stock dash. If someone can figure this out that would be awesome. I really don't feel like changing my dash out, etc.

I got the article scanned in today. It only has one pic of the interior, but it's still a nice car. Email me if you want it.
