Which is LESS ugly (gotta do one...)?

I've got an all black Firebir.

The front end (off an 84 T/A) got busted up in an accident last winter. I've had a bra on it to cover the damage, but then when I was backing it off a trailer, it snagged and ripped at the fron corver, so the bottom just kinda hangs and you can see those nast rips.

Option 1: Leave ripped bra

Option 2: New 87 Firebird nosecone, ready to install, but it's blue upeer and grey lower, and can't afford a paintjob yet.

Input?

I'd say go for the new nose and flat-black it. Black spray paint isn't going to match and isn't going to look great anyway, so you might as well just flat-black it. Flat black covers well but is a lot thinner, so it won't make a mess when you prep it for regular paint later on.

how bad did you bust up the nose? I did some sheetmetal damage to my '84 TA two years ago,I had to replace the hood and a light, but my friend fixed the nose with a heatgun.it was bashed in good! he was still in high school (voc.,auto body tech)he showed remarkable talent, the nose piece was straiter than it was before the accident(no more sun warp).he tried to disc grind it down to the primer, but he touched through in a few places, giving it an army camoflage look.for awhile we called it the "army car" then I spaypainted the nose and light lids GM black to match the new hood,my car is light metallic brown with mirror T-tops so it doesn't look too bad.you may have some trouble fitting an '87 nose on your car, '82-'84 are a family of thier own,I had to go back to the scrap yard to get the exact "nose support" because it was from an '85 and it was just .75" too narrow(across, fender to fender). It was from a V6,but everyone tells me V6s have the same body demensions. you can spraypaint out doors if you have a heat gun, warm up the cans as you paint(not more than 120*F ) and keep the surface warm and moisture free........and don't paint it next to moms car good luck

If I could find her, I'd love to get some overspray on her car, but that's a much longer story...

I know the 82-84's were pretty different, but the body is originally an 88, got in a front end before I ever owned it, and the nose on it isn't bent at all, just thsoe two (IMHO) ugly grills on the front are broken out. Don't have any real equipment for painting, I was just gonna grab a can... I think I'll just wait til spring and do the nose, new ASCD hood, and 91 GTA spoiler all at once. thanks guys.

actually, some 84 noses can look rather nice, i've seen some that people have put driving lamps behind the grills and they look sweet. But, i'd tell you, that if the nose is still in one piece, sand it own, primer it, and add a touch of gloss black paint, followed by a clear coat. My father did this to my front driverside fender once, and it looked good for about a 3 years, untill it got a paint job.
