What I did this winter
I decided last fall when I had a head gasket leak that I was tired of doing things half way on the TA, and wanted to finish it this year so I can just spend time enjoying it from now on.
So put together a new motor for the car, stripped and refinished the engine bay, upgraded to Baer brakes all around, replaced the carpeting and stereo system.
It's still not complete. Waiting on a few parts to come in this week. But I'm damn close.
Here's a couple shots of the engine bay.

I was one of the lucky few who got one out of Classic Industries way back when before Transdapt discontinued them. I think I bought that back in '95 lol

Wire looms for what? There are no visible wires to loom...... I couldn't see how you could possibly clean up a carbed engine any more than that and have it function. Awesome Job!!!!

I meant spark plug wire looms... say for a perimeter valve cover. Instead of just letting them hang there.

As for why Silver. With the car being black I felt like the engine always disappeared. Theres usually 2 trains of thought with engine bays, paint it body color or paint it black. So that kinda screwed me. Then someone had posted on here pics of a guy who did his bay in bright silver, but then air brushed it to look like patches of metal. I didn't care for the airbrushing but the silver looked like a good contrast. Plus it went with the overall color them of the car. Black car w/ silver WS6 wheels, Black interior w/Ulta Lite silve gauges.
Basically I wanted it to stand out more. I do alot of car shows, and felt in order to take a step forward from the crowd I needed to do something a little different.

My engine bay is also silver with the car black on the outside. The reason mine is that way is because my car was originally silver. The silver definately makes it stand out i have people take a double take all the time and look confused since its a different color but i get lots of comliments on it. Heres mine the car is dirty because ive been doing a motor and tranny swap for the last 2 weeks. But here is a picture of mine.

that thing is a rolling orgasm....awesome man
the silver matches perfect with the block and headers...now all you need is a chromed out turbo on each side lol

WOW!!!! I'm doing the same type of rehab. I blasted my entire front end bare and started with a coat or POR15. I was going to paint the engine compartment Jet black like the rest of the car. After seeing yours I'm seriously rethinking. Unfortunetly I already bought all the paint. A quart of Dupont premium base, clear and the mixers cost me $200. I might just have to go buy a quart of silver. Unless by chance you have left overs???
