It's been discussed, Chuck Pelton sells restored camaro steering wheels on ebay, I'm sure he would restore your wheel. His feedback is 100% for 225+ items. A restored wheel runs about $150, which is cheaper than the Momo I just installed...

its never been discussed with me involved . but do you have the info for this guy or a website. 150 isnt bad if he can do a jb that looks just like it does not but new. And does he refinish the spokes and stuff. They would need to be painted black or powdercoated.

Hawk's Third Gen - 300$

The price seems way to high to me. When the time comes I'm just going to find a place that does custom interiors or something. I'm sure someone can recover it for 100-150$.

there is only one shop in all of michigan that will redo a wheel leather wrap and it's $320. while they do an unbelievable job i decided to just buy a new one from gm at the same price. if the guy does a factory appearance for $150 area i'd say do it..

why charge less if there is no one else around offering the service. i wonder if a seamstress or something could do it, just anyone with experience in that type of work...how much is a piece of leather anyways?

have you ever tried to recover something as simple as a flat pannel? i'm not saying that $350 is right but $150, i'd gladly pay that "if" it looked original in it's tight form.

If you can have the powdercoating done locally, you might try reskinning it with a cover yourself:

Easy to install, Wheelskins are the best way to inexpensively customize and upgrade any plastic steering wheel. They are also the premier option for replacing a damaged or worn original factory leather covered wheel.

thanks but the wheel skins isnt the way i wanna . go it looks like anyway i do this its gonna be expensive. I dont wanna cut the cover off and have it powdercoated bc the person who puts a new cover on wont know how it looked. I need to be able to just send it to someone who can refinish the metal , powdercoat it and then wrap the wheel . But the prob with powdercoat is that the inner foam has to come off then

Any info on Chuck Pelton on ebay? I didn't have any luck searching ebay for recovered camaro steering wheels.

Sorry guys - here you go. I'll try to paste the link. He seems to sell many different types of steering wheels, and his feedback is high. I'm sure you all do this, but I always ask for additional pics via e-mail and based on pics and response & response time decide whether to buy or not.

You can try Car Motorsports. It's about $250 for re-wrap: http://www.carmotorsports.com/steeringrap.htm
Or try American Stitches, they did my GTA steering wheel for $380, http://www.american-stitches.com/
It might seem pricey but this was for a complete re-wrap with padding not just the outter ring which is what most re-wraps are like from Car Motorsports.

The reason they cost so much is not the materials but the labor. These are not a one day job deal, and if you add the total number of labor hours shaping and hand stitching the leather you can see why all professional re-wraps cost so much. If you want a factory quality job then you'll pay more.

The reason the cost...PITA! Thats why! Here was a link I was given on the fiero furum about restoring my 84 Indy pace Fiero

wheel link

this will give you an idea what is involved in removing ..htere was never a good answer on if the guy recoverd it himself or not! I have debated about doing one form a junkyard and making it look like my INdy wheel! Specific to Indys and Bird pace cars! My leather is all worn and the color is worn off!
