I've got two weeks to prep/paint/finish! AGH!

Ok, I've finally done all the body work and it is time to paint the car. I've already painted the fender (doing the hood, fender, and bumper) but I ****ed it up pretty bad. Lots of runs in the paint. It's a (limco?) 1-stage enamel. Said to mix it 8 parts paint, 4 parts reducer, 1 part hardener. But it ran pretty fast, so I dont know. Could I use a little less reducer for the bumper and the hood? And how much flex agent do I mix in when I go to paint the bumper?

Also, wet sanding.. I searched around but didnt find anything pertaining to enamel paints.. See, I have to have the painting ALL done, car waxed, and exerything, for the 29th. So I'm in a bit of a hurry here.. Would it be ok to put in a little more hardener? I sprayed the fender yesterday, and I'm gonna wet sand all the runs off tomorrow. Probably will use 400 grit, then 600, then 1000, then polish and wax? Sound good? The rest of the car is far from perfect, but I want to get this thing looking good. It's grad (prom, to you yankees :P) on the 29th, and damned if I'm driving a multicolored car to grad, and damned if I'm going to take anything but the Trans Am.

Any help appreciated. Sorry for the long read.

Right, forgot, I keep hearing it's a bad idea t wash paint before it's a...week old? Same goes for enamel? What about sanding, then? Buffing?

8-4-1?? weird, when I painted my buddies car (single stage white) I had 8-1-1. Went on really good too. The only runs you can find are on the drivers side cause the gun was set wrong when I started. You can see the car at pick and pull now lol, its trashed (white chev celebrity about half way down, all windows smashed)

carefull when your wetsanding, I used 400 one time and left a few minor scratches. but i dunno, i was rushed too. And I finnished with 2000 grit wet, when i painted my quarter pannel in school.

good luck dude

Thanks.. Maybe I'll try 8-1-1 next time. Thing ran like craaazy. And after all the masking work, and then STILL getting overspray on weird parts, I'm just taking the hood off when I do it.

This is true but you can still polish it out, just dont use any silicone based waxes.
