One place makes them, either pay their price or make your own.......Not a big market it is for aftermarket thirdgen parts....

400 is pretty high if you have a newborn. plus not to mention you have 100 shipping on top of that.

just thought i would ask. I wish there was another way i realy like the looks of these hoods.

yea i understand its a good chunk of change...but if they sold them for like 250 shipped or something everybody would have them, and there wouldn't be anything cool about them...its better IMO to sell them for a higher price so less people have them, so the people that have them are kind of unique over the rest of the thirdgen's...also i'm sure they aren't cheap to make....

As the cost of our raw materials continue to go up and I do not chose to use a cheap blend of resin. I am afraid the prices will have to rasie one of these day. Some manufactures might be using the cheaper reisn and that has it's whole other set of problems. Rex

a standard hood is over $400 unless it is a fiberglass liftoff one. those are usually half the price of the bolt-on ones. Either way 400 is prett cheap for one of those. And i have been looking for a long time for a replacement for my own hood (which once i have a replacement i will put my body work skills to use on it lol)

i aggree with you that if everyone had them they wouldnt be cool, but..

the manufacturers dont give a crap if everyone has them and that makes them 'uncool'

if you were trying to sell hoods for a profit would you want as many people to buy them as possible so you can make money, or only sell a few so they are revered as 'cool'?

I would probably start out for the cool factor till i hooked the kids who all thought they were cool. then sell alot of them lol.. So doing both would actually be the best business like way to go about it... best way to have a "cool" hood is to get some experience with carbon fiber and fiberglass and then create your own.. hardest part is making that first mold to get it all right.

the rare factor definately comes into consideration for some companies...look at AED, they make beautiful body kits for grand prix's, grand am's, s10's, and a few others, but they don't make anything for the imports or fart can equipped cars. And when you order a kit, they ask you for a vin number and pictures to make sure you have a domestic car that the body kit is going on, not a honda or something that you are gonna modify the kit to fit. also the kit for a grand am is close to 2200 bucks. and its all fiberglass not urethane. I'm sure it doesn't cost 2200 bucks to make, and obviously they are marketing to the people with more money so those people can have more of an elite car....i'm not saying hoods are the same way, because i'm sure hoods aren't cheap to make, but i think the market for aftermarket parts definately takes this into consideration. another example is lambo doors...my buddy just got some, and you can't tell me it costs 1500 bucks to make 2 hinges....

the cost to make a one off hood is about the price you pay for the hood.. so basically the person who bought the very first hood they sold paid for the process pretty much. maybe the first 2 hoods sold at most. after that for materials and such. i think if i add up all the cost it comes to about $200 to 250 for the cost of materials to make the hood. then add in the cost of the amount they have to pay the person and probably about all total around 300$ (this is a carbon fiber based hood. fiberglass is much cheaper, so i would guess about 175 to 200 for a well made hood)

Just guesses now.. but i think i would be pretty close
