I'm in process of painting the entire front end suspension plus engine bay. For suspension I SWEAR by POR-15 (por15.com). This stuff actually prefers rusty metal. Read up on it. I've done my K-member, control arms and spindles and couldn't be happier if they were powdercoated. You can brush it on and it does settle glass smooth. I wouldn't do an engine bay but that's just me.

Send pix when you're done to body and detailing foroum. I'll take pix of mine. It's unbelievable on hardness, shine and ease of application.
I'm not battling with what to do with my engine bay. The suspension is off and coated (k-member, control arms and spindles Gloss Black POR 15.
It's either Sherwin Single Stage Gloss Black
Sherwin Single Stage Gloss Red (Factory Match)
Or use what's left over from my hood: PPG BaseCoat (Digital Match via gas take door) and PPG Clearcoat
It's alot more sanded and prepped presently than the picture.

i got a stock steering brace from a junkyard for $10, sanded it down with an angle grinder, primed and spraypainted it, and it looks like new. The stock piece is nearly impossible to see, so there's no benefit in getting fancy with paint or putting a sticker on it. I did POR-15 my k-member and a-arms and i'm very happy with them though.

I used Mineral Spirits and wire brush to clean em up, then sanded them, and then I used high temp engine paint. Total cost like $10 for everything and it was enough to do all my suspension pieces. This isn't like a professional setup or anything but its cheap and definately looks nicer than old and crusty.
