New Member! Pics of 1991 Camaro, 20k original miles, Info
Hi all, new to posting here but not new to browsing the site. Great site, people, and resources here, I love it.
Anyhow, I thought I'd show off the 91 Camaro!
My dad got it in 95, reposessed from a banker who couldn't make payments on it. Car had about 10000 miles on the odometer and was purely stock. It's an RS, 305, 5-speed, white with black interior. He traded a 67 Chevelle SS454 for the Camaro (bittersweet, I know) to give autocrossing a try. After I turned 16 I got my hand at autocrossing it, the car is unreal.
The car has been driven on the street a little, and also autocrossed (30-70mph cone racing in lots). It has always been taken care of, never abused, even on the track. The car is modified and runs in E Street Prepared. It spends the vast majority of its time sitting in an enclosed trailer.
The interior still smells new (unbelievable, I know, you have to get inside, it really does), the radio still works, and the AC still blows cold. Interior is completely stock.
Odometer reads about 20,000 miles. All original except for the following...
Mods:
Headers
SLP 3" exhaust
92 Trans-Am Limited Slip Dif (3.42 gearing)
Lowering Springs
Polyeurethane Bushings
Subframe connectors
Sway bars
Strut tower brace (yet to go on)
Hurst 5-speed shifter
Engine Management Chip
Baer 12" Disc Brakes (all 4 wheels)
16" American Racing Equipment Wheels
255/50 Good Year Eagle F1s
Replaced front lip because of chips
New springs are going on now as the old ones are starting to compress.
The pictures:

Edit: old shot of it under braking in a turn at an auto-x in NC.

I'll be home in a week or so and hope to get some better shots of it, interior too.
The sad news is he is considering selling it. I'm trying to desperately convince him otherwise, though. I want to buy it from him later on as a second car. I almost have him convinced. It's not as fast as my current ride, but it has character, attitude, and hell, I just love it! Third gens rock.
I love reading these boards, good information and pictures. I'm a Volvo and Camaro enthusiast (I know, odd match). Here is my current ride... 2005 Volvo S60R, 6 speed manual, 300 hp, AWD, Brembos. Mods: Chip, Downpipe (~50hp gain), Eibach springs. This picture was taken before the spring install...

Very nice cars you have there. The Camaro looks really clean and you gotta love the R. Nothing wrong with being a Camaro and Volvo enthusiast... I work at Volvo.. they're pretty nice cars.

That is a sweet car.. I have a disdain for white cars, but I love that... That's like the, oh, third or fourth white vehicle I've ever seen that I liked...

Nice and clean. Your car makes me want to break down and buy one of those extra low mile cars I see now and again.

Yeah man, take it from someone who's been there.....DON'T sell it!!
It's really tough to relate how valuable a car like that is, maybe not in terms of market value, but just to someone that likes thirdgens. You have a low mileage, clean, straight car, that you know almost the entire history of (ie, you know where its been, what its done, every knick and scratch in the paint). It's also got the sentimental value of being a family car for a number of years. Even if its not the fastest, I still vote keep it, 5 years down the road you could do anything you want to it, and its a perfect base. If you want to restore it to stock and show it, that would be shockingly easy, and if you wanted to do a massive build-up (new motor, springs, tranny, whatever)....again you've got a perfect candidate. The little things on a high mileage/unknown car can drive you crazy. The previous owners on mine, for instance used the tab where the quarter panel mounts to jack up on, and now the tab is parallel to the floorpans and the bolts completely inaccesssible, or they were until I spent an hour or two bending the tabs back by hand. Stupid little things like that can throw off the entire process of what you're doing. Definately keep it, and build it into whatever you want it to be. Just cause it's a lowmileage car doesn't mean it has to be stock
. I've never understood the fascination with numbers matching perfect everything.....cause then you can't fix the flaws it came with from the factory or usually even drive it! It's just an expensive garage/show ornmanent. Beautifully maintained, clean and custom cars fascinate me, cause I love to see how people overcame particular problems specific to their type of vehicle.
But, its up to you. Do whatever you think is right

Hey everyone, thanks for all the replies! Wow...
First, I have to clear something up...
The car is in North Carolina. Those pictures were taken in 2005. Note the Minnesota plate has a 1995 sticker. Yup, hasn't been on the street since 1995! We left Minnesota in 1996.
Anyhow, I'm hoping he keeps it... I'm glad the best offer he's had so far is 8000. I don't have the money to buy it yet... I already have one money pit (the Volvo, and mods on European cars suck money-wise). I'd like to turn the Camaro into a mostly-garaged Saturday night and Sunday cruiser.
You guys have some sweet Camaros/Firebirds, just checking out your sigs and cardomains!
The 67 Chevelle was an SS396, Black/Black. No pictures, but it was very nice. However, it was not stock. The 396 blew, replaced it with a 427, which later blew, and that was replaced with a 454. None of the gauges were calibrated, the interior was decent but not original. Car was a beast, but only good for destroying tires in two or three seconds!

Nice to see another low milage car(mine has 4k)! Yours looks awesome. i plan to try my hand at auto-xing soon. Don't be afraid to use your car the way it was designed. I'm taking mine on the Hot Rod Power Tour, after I finish notching out the back seat area of the rollcage for a babyseat, and adding a Vintage Air Gen II system.

I am not modifying the car in any way that could not be returned to stock. I am not cutting, hacking, welding on any part of the car itself. The rollcage was in it when I bought it. I am just modifying the rollcage to fit a babyseat. The Vintage Air setup can be removed and put back to stock. The firewall is not being touched. The only other mods I have planed are exhaust and suspension, and I plan on keeping all of the original parts, so you can purchase it from me at any time and put it back the way you like. I know how rare the car is. I have been an avid third gen fan for twenty years, so give me a little credit. I feel the same as you about hacking up a rare car. The car was for sale on this board, any one had the oportunity to purchase it, and do with it what they wanted. If some one wants to buy it from me, everything has its price, make an offer. If this comes across as being rude, I do not mean to offend.
