Ribless & Polished
this was inspired by TPI383...i originally painted the whole top with the ribs on, and polished the top of the ribs, and i didn't like it...so i milled off all the ribs and polished it...it didn't polish up as nice as I thought it would tho...it looks great from a distance when the light hits it, but up close you can still see the cloudyness....i started with 80 grit orbital, then 120, then 240, then 280 all on the the oribital...then i did it by hand with 600 dry, then 600 wet...then 1000 wet, 1200 wet, and 2000 wet...after that i used some mothers billet and mag polish....i thought it would look like a mirror by now...but I just figured i'd post some pics to show you guys some more pics of a ribless HSR intake...

in that first pic it looks scaley , like its not smooth and not perfectly flat . I think you might have to do some more sanding to get it a little flatter.

Yea it does look a little pitted in the first pic. Take it back down to 400 wet, and then get a polishing wheel and hit it with Emory, tripoli, and then white rouge.... polishing compounds will shine it up much better than high grit sand paper.

yea thanks....i think it turned out pretty good...i mean looking at pics is kind of critical because you see every flaw, and the pics were huge so i had to scale them down like to 30 percent of its original size so I could post them....so the detail really isn't there like I wanted to show you guys...Its kind of hard to polish the thing any more because i did put the intake on today, so its definately not coming off now....but from like 5 feet away it looks like a mirror surface, its only when you get up close is where you see some of the cloudyness....but I'm glad how it turned out, and its a lil different than eveyrbody elses ya know...
