driving around today in my car(nice 85* and ttops off) i spoted a ruff lookin camaro. i stop looked at the list of stuff done to it
1986 Camaro Z28
454 BBC motor
New 5spd GM tranny
New Clutch, PP, TOB
Power Windows
New fenders come wit the car
3" fiberglass Cowl hood
now heres the ugly part, car was in a hit and run in march. the front bumper is wasted, the car comes wit two new fenders, and the hood has two cracks. guy says his desprate to sell and will sell it for 2600$. i check around the car, motor runs like its brand new. now ? is would u buy this? cuz im thinking bout it, cuz if it has frame damage i could just stip the motor and tranny and sell the rest

no way he must be high... way to much money for a hacked up z 28 thats been hit. i would stay away far away from that mess..
so it has a 454 you would have nothing but greif with it trans is to light for that engine you didn;t mention sfc's if it has non its probally bent by now. 454 is way to much torque for a thirdgen without roll cage or sfc.
for that money you can get a sweet iroc and have something that is of value.

its a 1970 chevlle 454 motor. it appears to just be cosmetic damage(car does come wit two new fenders) and i would have to replace the front bumper cover. i didnt see any cracks or kinks in the whole body. tranny is 2 years old, had it done in 03

i would buy it if i had the money, if 454 has be freshened up recently, then the moter alone is probly worth the money and then you have spare thirdgen parts if anything else ... just my

That 454 would sound awsome in a third gen. I had a Trans am with a 455hd and it was just the most beutiful sound you can hear. Now imagine that kind of sound in a third gen. Be carefull though, try not to blow your tranny. If you have a 700r4 in your other 3rd gen, than hook that up to the motor. Take the t5 (that came with v6's a lot and some 305's) and hook it up to your L03. That way your LO3 would be faster, and your 454 would last a bit longer with a 700r4, as long as 700r4 was made after 86 (i belive).
All in all, just get the car. If I was there with that kind of deal I would sell everything I have for it.
So, do it.

If it got hit hard enough to ruin both fenders, then chances are it needs a LOT more work than you realize. The radiator support is probably wasted, as is everything in front of it. The unibody rails that the fenders bolt to along with the inner fender area (strut towers) might be comprimised.
I can probably take a guess and say that the 454 is either not running right, or is not an LS5 out of a 70 chevelle, because if it was, I really can't imagine that 5 speed lasting long enough to make it to the accident scene.
It just sounds like somebody elses headache to me.

xlwhellraiser : i only buy cars with a 5spd
and it does sound awesome, he let me start it up and wow sounded darn good. it ran for 2 seconds on fast idle, then he kicked it down to low idle and ran like a charm
i could prob save the fenders just bang them out, and smooth over wit a lil bondo, the rad support is good, has a band new alumium one in there. im gonna take the body who works for my boss up there and hes gonna tell me if its worth it or not
