those are made by an aftermarket comany whos name i can not remember at the moment. however GM and ASC did not start maaking verts til 87. all verts before that were dont by aftermarket companies. ive seen those as far back as 82, theyre not as uncommon as some people think. im sure someone else can chime in with more info for ya.

i can't see GM having anything to do with that car...it's ugly...why in the world wouldn't someone put the convertible spoiler on there (with the middle light in it). it looks stupid with that light on top of the trunk.

Those are AutoForm cars I beleive.
....I really like 'em.
Actually, you're correct. Thirdgens came out in 82 and didn't end till 92. Most of them were made in the 80's. That Iroc vert in the link is an 86.

gotta love wood trim.....no better way to scream 80's

The car is nice.. sweet actually, I like it. However I have to agree with Camaroguy18, I don't care for the simulated wood grain trim.
You guys just need to read the listing to know what it is. The seller says right in the ad that the car was made by Autoform of Indiana. GM had no part in the making of the roadsters.
As for the 3rd brake light....wasn't mandated until 1986. Their was no spoiler light until 87. Since 86 was the first year for it, companies weren't really sure where to put it and disguise it. It took some time to design.

People have individual tastes, but period-correct accessories have always been a popular option for car guys. Guys with 50's cars have those cheezy drive-in-movie decorations for their cars and fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. Guys with 60's muscle cars still like to run 14" Torque Thrust wheels.

my point was obviously missed to than, as I wasnt slamming the car, but the gaudy plastic wood paneling....somehow things are always lost in translation between mind and typing I guess

It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have the trap door on the back with the huge gate hinges. The third brake light position is awkward too. Oh, and if the top up position was better. I just don't like how it sits and the buttons all over the back bothers me too.
I love the idea of a two seater and the bulges behind the head rest.

Jim is right, my point was that while I'm not a huge fan of the wood, I love the 80's look generally speaking.
...and although I was being a little sarcastic, I was doing so with a smile. Certainly no offense was taken, and I hope you didn't take any to my comments. As you stated, a lot is often lost in translation!
...but honestly, I do often scratch my head as to why so many (and no one in particular) TGO members try so hard to get away from the 80's look, while going out and buying.....A CAR FROM THE 80's!!!
....but ultimately it's no biggie. Different strokes for different folks.
Here's another AutoForm 'Roc vert pic:

couldnt have said it better Abubaca - you know I dont scuffle really with anyone on these boards, and I knew you were being sarcastic...just didnt know if it was in rebuttle to a mis-assumption of my comment or not. Yea I gotta admit my car is far from an 80's look now, but it still retains some classic 80's features that I love.....cant get away from it as much as you may or may not want to

I think it is pretty cool. Speaking of 80's, wasn't there one of those cars in the tv show Simon & Simon?

Simon and Simon had an 82-84 Z28. It was red with gold GFX's and a Targa top instead of the T-tops, aftermarket wheels as well.
