First pics of almost finished car
Well, its close enough to finished that I can put a few pics up.

The stripes are Copper Penny Pearl. Its amazing how they can look in bright sun.
Let me know what you think!

Thanks for the kind words! I was real unsure about the color, and origonally got the pearl to spray over the whole thing. After we got the first coat of color on, though I changed my mind!

Yeah, the only reason I got the rims was because they were $400 and had new Kumhos on the front and MT Et Streets on the backs. I will get different rims at some point, but for now they are fine, and you don't see them on everyone elses rides, like SS, ZO6, TTIIs, etc...
That was why I did not go with the 91 GFX and tall spoiler as well.
All the body work and 3 coats of primer were sprayed in the garage, but the color coats, stripes and clear were sprayed on in my buddies shop.
Color is a custom PPG mix. The stripes are just pearl sprayed over the orange, they are like ghost 'stripes' but we put down 5 coats of it so you always see them, but they still change dramaticly with the sun. If it is sunny out, they sparkle, if it is cloudy, they just look darker than the rest of the car.

Notice they actually follow the lines of the car, and the ends aren't just squared off.
We had a 70 chevelle in the shop while we were painting this, so we could look at its factory stripes and lay these out the right way IMO.

I know the one on Rides was done at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan and ultimately GM made the guys repaint the stripes in black for the SEMA Show introduction of the car. But the original idea, and the paint job they showed going on the car in the show, was orange with slightly darker orange stripes (a touch of red added for those) and then a pearl shot over the whole thing.
Is this all just a bizarre coincidence, or do you know any of the guys at WCC that worked on the Chevelle for that episode of Rides? I was bummed that the stipes had to be redone in black on that car, but happy for you that you get to keep this combo on your car. I'm liking it more and more!

Just a bizarre coincidince!
But interesting none the less!
What really got me was last months PHR had 9 cars you should build, one was a 3rd gen orange with black stripes, and 5 spoke wheels like mine only with a dish.
My dad called and said your car is in PHR. I had thought about doing white or silver stripes, but did not want to go black.
Yeah, she'll stay like this, unless it were to get some body damage and require a repaint, which hopefully never happens! Konck on wood!

What do you guys think about the stripes going down onto the nose? We first layed them out just on the hood, and my painter friend, said it doesn't look right, lets take them down on the nose and see how they look, so thats what we did.

Brisk,
Here are a couple straight on pics I took in the garage, notice the flourescent lights reflection.
One is with the flash, other without.

Cool, nice to see pics of yours. I like the hood and wheels ha!! (notice I have the same setup)
However, I know in some area's the 91 spoiler and gfx are overdone, but where I'm from, my car gets looks left and right cause no one else has 91 style camaro's, let alone a clean one haha
