IROC Decal Question/idea

were the 85-87 IROC door decals offered in black? i was thinking of putting black decals on my car when i repaint it black, it would almost give it a ghosted look, i think it might be cool. anyone ever done this before with any decals/color?

I was thinking about doing that too. But I would only get the IROC Z sticker in black and forget the stripes. I got the idea when I first saw the police cars that look all one colour but when the sun hits them a certain way you can see all of the decals. I haven't really persued it though. I still think it would be a really cool addition to my car. Now you see it, now you don't.

As for your totally black IROC Z decal question i'm not totally sure, but You could probably have a pair made if worst comes to worst and they are totally non existant.

Good luck with that Adam

i know that some white irocs had black decals so i would think you would be able to get black ones.

yeah i saw a pic of a white IROC right after i made the post. i would either do that or just make up a template and just have the paint shop throw a coat on after they lighten up the black a tiny bit, so its just ghosted. is there any more to ghosting then just painting with a slightly lighter or darker color?

Sounds slick! As for ghosting, it is often done using a pearl over the color coat. Then you clear it all. I think just the stickers would be fine. I would not try to spray over them.

To the best of my knowledge, the factory didn't have black IROC-Z decals. White cars got silver, red or gold. I have silver on mine and it sometimes looks black in pictures.....anyways....doesn't really matter. What I would do if I were you would be to get in touch with a sign shop. They could reproduce the decal in any color. I would think a satin clear clear decal is what you would want.

My brother got black ones for his red IROC, I think he got them from decalking.com.
