Did someone say LAYED OUT RS
here she is boys still have some fine tuning to do, like figuring out presets, i will may my wheel gap is gone, i am going to trim down the rear stops a little more to get a little lower adn right now its running a 225/60 up front (old owner put em on) and deflated it puts it against the wheel well liner so when i get tires here shortly i'm going to run like a 245/50 in hopes of getting a hair lower in the front, drove it a bit today, it gets tons of attention when you drop it, seems to handle VERY WELL, doesnt lean around hard corners although i did put energy suspension bushings on teh front sway bar, and thats just at close to my factory ride height, i thinks its really gonna be a dream when i get it fine tuned.....Even got a bit artistic...was thinking of camaroguy18 when i took these

That looks killer man. Great job!!
I would also love to have an airride installed. I saw your other post and loved how you were able to conceal it all in the spare tire well. After seeing your install the only things that still make me question getting one are the terrible roads here and the increased risk for theft. Out of curiousity, how low are your front and rear bumpers to the ground? Once again, great job!!

well i couldnt tell you exact but sitting as low as she'll go theres about an inch and a half before i'd be on the airdamn underneath, as i said i am limited by the tires being too tall in the front and i cut the bumpstops lightly to make sure i'd have alot of clearance adn then i'm gonna chop a bit mor eoff when i get my tires....Keep in mind i can take it to higher than factory height with the push of a buttom since colorado roads are nasty too

That looks sweet as hell (minus the grill). Hell, even the stock 16"ers look good on it. Please tell me you don't drive that thing every day.

huh gunny it lost dd status last year, now its just for show and recreation....however she has yet to be on a trailer, i love having it pretty and all but i do also enjoy beating on it everynow and then
I'm getting ready to start a custom grill, i'm going to mold a sheet of metal to the center part of the bumper then weld a **** load of small tubing through holes on the sheet then grind it, rubber coat the back so it doesnt scrape anything up then paint it like a real gloss black something that looks stock but then doesnt, basically a custom "billet" style grill
This wasnt supposed to be ready to roll this weekend however i got invited to go on this customs cruising for kids thing and its basically 85 car broke up into packs and they go to homes of deployed soldiers and hand out food and toys and stuff, so i was like yea i'm in so i've been working like mad to finish it for the thing which was 9am christmas morning, since ya know i got 6 close friends overseas, well i started working the 24th at about 4pm, stopped for dinner then kept rolling on it, so about 2am..yes 2am christmas morning i was in the garage and had it basically totally ready to set ride heights problem was its 2am and i gotta start teh car to charge the bat so the compressor doesnt kill it.....the neighbors already have called the cops numerous times for me coming home at 11 and waking em up but then i still had all the rear interior to put in which had to wait since i didnt have the connectors for the switch i'm running on the comp. power so i basically had to deciide i wasnt going to go...i was disapointed but on the other hand i said i was going to drive it christmas day and i did

Now the real question becomes, "What is under that massive cowl?" One of these would look real nice, and might actually fit:

Car: too many ...
Be carefull when getting the next set of tires for the front. On my IROC-Z I went with something close to 24.5" tall setup (what is that, around 2" shorter than stock?) and with the tires resting against the wheelwells at full lock down the crossmember and oil pan were about 1/2 inch from the ground. So if you are planning to use the tire itself to limit your travel (you mentioned shaved bumpstops) make sure you get a tire that won't cause you to toally bottom out when you dump it, maybe on un-even surfaces or whatever. When I was doing my Z28 I found around a 25.5" tall setup gave good crossmember clearance at full lock down resting on the wheel wells. The reason I was testing all this was because for my setup (manually adjustable ride height) I always started at full lock down and went up little by little to find the acceptable ride heights for street driving with a static height. Started with what I needed to get out of the driveway, then went to my favorite speedbump where I measured there for clearance. Seemed to work out good.

thanks everyone, took it out this evening for the last time for a bit since the weather is supposed to go back to hell tomorrow.....everything you read in magazines about airride is true, the ride is a TON smoother than stock but its very tight and handles way better than even i expected it is quite an improvement over stock...
WHeels are still up in teh air, still considering polishing mine and running them this show season....since yea the boze stingers are 750 a pop for the rears, althouhg i have to price out a set of billet specialties i just saw
There is a bit of hood gap, still need to adjust that down just a hair in the front, doesnt look bad in person
Gunny, i'm actaully looking at the weiand 144ci roots blower in hopes maybe it'll finish off this motor so i can have a good reason to build a new one
The grill is in the works
super kev, search for my name and a few teaser pics, i have pics of where everything is mounted
I'll get a tripod sometime and get some pics for you guys at different heights

actually the hood is high at the fenders too...you could probably just tighten the stoppers in and that would do it. it really becomes a problem when its flush at the fenders and up in the middle. yours might not be so bad though.
oh yea, and have you thought about firehawks? those would look awesome. and you could get the inside painted body color if thats the look youre after.

Well Paul I think you have me sold on air ride brother. You guys should see this car in person, the pics do not do it justice. This is truly a beautiful car, now all I need to do is get mine painted and then I'll start saving for the air ride. Paul...."I hate you"

Trust me i know i am still deciding what to do with it, i kind awant to get a new one, kind awant to get one of those caps and paint it body color with my stripe, problem is my painter moved to texas and i cant shoot ghost, thinking of recovering it in black leather then putting my stripe into it in the grey leather my seats and console are....i'll figure it out
Kandy, yes dude this is the coolest thing i've put on the car, the reaction you get like today, pulled into the gas station, lot of people looking and slammed it....it got a crowd quick i seriously spent almost 20 minutes talking to people
Gunny, the bags, compressor and computer, valve, panel, remote feature,, tank, hat and shirt came to 1992.10 shipped and insured to colorado....WELL WORTH IT
CHerryred, we need to get together dude, i cant wait to see what it looks like next to a factory height rs, any luck on the tilt lever? couldnt fish mine out of the defroster vent
(idea for everyone dont leave parts on the dash and then go "test" a new suspesnion...stuff gets lost in place stuff shouldnt be)
BUt just think bro, you and sasa can roll with the only thirdgen in colorado on bags

That was the worst part, i figure people will want my head for chopping a hole into a mint dash (nevermind the pad) for that, it was a nerve racking incision...but sucessful thanks to the trusty dremel

I think it's a great spot to put it....helps alot especially for those of us that have a 4th gen console.....as far as install goes, you did it all yourself correct? What were the goods and the bads....how much previous knowledge and experience have you had with everything that was involved.....good to get these questions out on the table for those considering the job

I will sy this airride did a damn good job when it came to teh mounting of the suspension, all the brackets lined up great with existing holes and i am very pleased, they do however say you need to cut the spring pocket so the bag wont rub...I apparently had more room then what they worked on as i mounted the bags up front and ran them to a full deflation and still had a good 9/16" around the bag i had to check with a mirror as the aarm was in contact with the spring pocket...so i didnt cut anything
