Repainting my car black & purple

...is never going to happen. I was going through a box of old pics and found this picture from the day I bought my Firebird.

Purple louvers and rocker panels- yummy. The front grilles were purple too. This is what happens when you buy a car sight-unseen.

Anyway, I just thought some of you would get a laugh out of the purple louvers.

Nah, I've been collecting parts to finish it. I bought a Griffin radiator and a Moser 9-inch rear end for it. I put the '66 in storage so now the Firebird has the garage to itself & I have room to work on it. I'm going to get back to work on it soon.

i think it's happier now blue instead of black, just like mine. i'm sure for thirdgenfest we'll get to park all the cars that jay painted together as a large showing there. hopefully they won't all be shades of blue.

You see that spot where the car is sitting? That was taken when I saw it for the first time. 15 seconds after I put my camera away I started scuffing and rattle-canning the louvers, rockers and grilles black. So your answer is: not one second.

EDIT: I just received a pm from someone looking to buy my louvers. Just so everyone knows, that picture was taken in 1994. I sold the louvers, wheels and drivetrain soon after I bought the car.
