just a teaser of the bay b4 paint...
so im a rookie at this work so go easy but im learning more than college can teach me
me and a friend have done all the work and for two kids im happy.
smooth fenders
smooth strut tower "lips"
smoothed frame rails
trimmed up the rad support
custom battery trays
and i have cover plates for the sides of the battery trays by the fenders
among a few other little things these are it. ive got a little more planned when the motors in though.
im not looking for perfection because to be honest i dont have the patience anymore to perfect every little thing, this has gone on long enough!!

looking good! This has become quite a trend, i see most show 3rd gens having it done in the future
Try to stay patient and prep it well, you don't want to have put all those hours in so far and get lazy now! Be a perfectionist! lol

your right...i almost got lazy after sanding for a LONG time on the first attempt at the bondo but there are too many pinholes etc in the bondo and now im taking the time to do it right and put another coat on. i know i wouldnt have been happy with the result, ive wanted to do this for a year of so but just now finally got around to buying a daily driver, pulling the motor, and getitng off my lazy ***!

thats a lot of bondo. are you using glaze or the heavy stuff? also, i hope you know those circles of metal are high spots that you should knock down with a body hammer.

actually that isnt much bondo at all. the circles of metal are not high spots either...higher than the metal under the bondo yes but not higher than the bondo.
the fenders were pretty smooth to begin with but because we did so much welding, grinding, welding, grinding, beating, cussing
obviously bondo had to be laid to smooth everything out.

By your statement... apparently I'm that 'a good friend'. Though, I'm not complaining mind you
Your inners do seem a bit rough. I just skim coated my metalwork spots on mine and then a couple coats of high build.
I also didn't go for exterior body smooth like JeremyNYR did though. Which seems more like what you're going for.
This is all the more I did aside from the 2k primer...

dont be fooled by the way it looks or feels. when metal comes up, especailly like that (in patches) they are high spots, youll see it after you paint (especially if you go with black, and mybe not if you go with white).

well i didnt bondo the entire fenderwell. i sanded on the metal exposed parts of the fenderwells more than the bondo to bring everything even and it defenitly feels smooth as the outside of my cars paint. but i do plan to put one more thin coat on to fix all the pinholes in the bondo.
any other suggestions before i cross the point of no return? what should i do to fix the high spots?

take a body hammer, point the pointed part at the high spot and beat it till its obviously low. cover the entire area with bondo (not just where the high spot was, the entire section). you can really sand the metal down that much, the fact that it is showing is an indication of a high spot. whenever you see whatever you are covering begin to pop up, you either stop, or if you still havent touched right next to it, you knock it down.

thanks deadbird...i didnt use a flash but that itself could have been the problem.
it turned out okay, like i said good enough for me. there isnt too many others out there with smoothed fenders, battery trays and frame rails.
