Looks like a good find. But then again, they all do in pictures. Have fun with it.

And what's up with those mirrors?

Those are the original 'paddle style' mirrors that they started the GTA's with. Supposed to give it a 'Euro' look.

: shrug :

Congrats on the new car.

Yep. Here's some data from GTA Source Page

Question #4 - Why do some GTAs have those ugly, "Porsche" style mirrors?"

Initially, the 1987 GTA was introduced as a kind of upscale "euro" sports coupe; that was its real marketing target. The "paddle" mirrors were a direct reference to the GTA's supposed "euro" predilections. That style was quite common on many European sports coupes of the day, including those made by Porsche and BMW.

Purportedly, the mirrors were discontinued becasue they were prone to being knocked off the cars rather easily, but it is a fact that only a very few early model 1987 GTAs have them. At some point early in production, Pontiac reverted to using the standard Firebird aero mirror on the GTA. I have seen two different numbers quoted as to the total number of cars built with the unusual mirrors: either fifty (50) or two hundred (200). Either way, it is certainly a rare option on any 1987 GTA.
I say hold on to those!! I know that when I eventually have money to buy a GTA, I'll be tryin' to find one that originally came with - and still has - the paddle mirrors.

Cool, same colors as my car. Put some "GM" mirrors on there and keep the euro's.

thanks for all the nice comments. i dont know what is up with the moon in the first pic. lol. Im probabley going to paint it a maroon color or keep it the red not sure yet, i guess i will deside when i get to it. I love the tan interior my camaro has the tan interior and i live it, its just hard to find replacement parts. i have alot of plans for this car it will just be on the back burner till i get the camaro back on the road. but i will do this car right like i did my camaro i will just keep this one stock like the drive train seeing it has the 350 tpi in it. and on the price i paid 1k for it. thats why i couldnt pas it up. well hope to see some of ya at the meeting mext month. and tanks again for the coments.

Nice car!
Good score finding a '87 GTA with the Paddle mirrors!
I love them!
I have a spare set for me, but have yet to use them, as if I install them on my 20th TTA, it devalues the car. I do keep every part for my car, so I wouldn't get rid of anything.
As for tan parts, good luck!
All the 20th TTA owners pick up all the spare parts they can find!
What parts excactly are you looking for?

Enjoy,

George

i would leave it the stock color. and as far as the power train goes, unless you want to race it these 5.7s don't need ANY help. my 88 5.7 GTA is sick fast and it's mostly stock.

definatly keep the mirrors!!! those are hella rare. in theory your car is more rare then a 20th TTA. a rare option is not as cool as a rare car, but you know... whatever.

welcome to the rare option club. my 88 is one of five 88GTAs without a power antenna. it's the lamest rare option ever

^ Yea, I'd say it's a good idea to keep the mirrors in a safe place. Ya don't want those precious babies getting stolen or knocked off

Good luck with trying to find those interior pieces. If I come across anything, I'll let ya know.
