Whats Going On With My Paint???!

man, this pisses me off, alright, this is how it goes:

the guy i bought the car from got it painted last april from maaco and hasn't waxed/buffed since. i've washed it a few times, but after awhile, i saw that the spoiler was starting to fade a little bit. not only that, but i also noticed these weird spots like the paint had mint in it or something (?????). anyways, i figured that it WAS maaco, and came to accept the fact that there might be a few little imperfections.

heres where it gets retarded. i washed my car today, because it was absoulutely filthy, but after washing it, i found that the car had this weird oily film all over it, later realizing that i must have used too much car wash concentrate. so i took it over to the local gas station to get it re-washed by a machine. by the time it was all said and done, it was night, so i pull my car out to the gas station canopy to see the results of the wash. and even though the film seemed to be gone, there was like these weird permanent water spots on my car. THAT PISSED ME OFF! they dont come off no matter how hard i rub. and on tp of that MY SPOILER IS EVEN MORE FADED! wtf, wtf, wtf?????

PLEASE HELP ME OUT GUYS, what is up with my paint, and how do i fix it?

thanks a bunch,
mike

Have you considered taking the time to give it a good HAND washing with SOFT water and use a 3 step-scratch remover/wax/polish. I am guessing the fading is due to poor maintence leading to oxidation. A cheap paint job will oxidize fairly fast and quicker on fiberglass parts (spoiler, gfx, bumbers...)

Water Spots - if that's what they really are, are caused by hard water (mineral deposits left in the water leave water spots) Fading is somewhat fixable using a 2- or 3-step system to remove oxidation and crystallization and then polish the good paint to match the other parts of the car.

Yeah, water in some areas really sucks. When I lived in Texas the water there around Austin was very hard because the water table undergorund was over limestone. White spots on the windows and paint all the time.

Here in California, the water is snow melt. Tastes great and washes a mean car.

Either way, you can always find water that is "soft" water using a water softener which a lot of people have in their homes no matter where they live.

i know maaco paint is cheap and all but honestly would he be having these problems if the other owner had actually taken care of the paint? its less quality paint. makes sense to keep up with it before it goes to ****.
