i would if i were goin with a black 4th gen style paint job and black wheels. but with silver or polished wheels and a totally gunmetal car, clear looks better IMO.

you can diy. I know there's threads that explain how to do that somewhere, and if the red doesn't come off you could replace it with plexiglass

sorry my mind is wandering on me tonight. I totally misread what he said. All apologies.

I believe you have to take the assembly apart. Scrape off the color on the inside or replace the lense with plexiglass. Then glue it back together. I might suggest a thin coat of clear silicone across the inside if the lens so that it lights up the whole thing instead of just where the bulb is.

I hope that helps.
Again I'm sorry about my earlier posts I have a horrible head cold that makes it next to impossible to think.

Well at least you're trying to help.

The lens itself is red so it would probably need to be cut/unglued off the backing assembly and a new clear/diffused piece of plex/lex siliconed on.

Didn't redraif do this? Or did she cut out the sheetmetal from the front of some thirdgen fenders and graft them onto the rear? Or from some other car?

in the process of ironing out the details on a write up of how I did it for my site. Was just about done when cardoamin changed the format on thier pics adn all mine disappeared and the layout changed. I have to get the pics back up...

Long story short I got the rears out of another bird to not kill mine if it did not work...

I had to break the red lens out of the white housing...

I then had to cut and fit a clear lens out of another car... I had a heck of a time filing it down to fit flush...

Will see what i can do tomorrow to get the pics and semi build up on cardomain

I believe the front and rear housings are the same. You should be able to purchase clear lens for the front and back. You will need to get colored lights, both amber or amber front red in the back to stay legal.

Two questions, what color does the UK use? What do the Japanese use? The reason I ask is because they don't use the same dot colors that we do and there might be a company that sells them.

Camaro's have them integrated into the tailights. That's why they wrap around onto the fender and birds don't.

You'd need amber or off-white (standard incandescent bulb). White is illegal on the side of your vehicle.

It's a matter of semantics really. The laws around here state that the lights on the front have to be from white to amber and the frontal portion of the side have to be from offwhite (incandscent bulb) to amber. (no blue tinted bulbs to get a "white" appearance). Rear marker lights have to be red and rear signals have to be amber or red.

I remember someone saying that procarparts.com sold side markers, but I cant find any listed under the 3rd generations of the fbodies, but only the 4th generations. Is it that the 4th generation side markers will fit? Or am I just missing them on the site.

/edit: I see that they sell them on ebay, but dont offer them on their site? weird.

Anyone tried adapting 4th gen rears onto our cars? Is the size similar, or would some trimming be needed?
