Question about clearcoating rims
Alright so im at the point, wheels are polished and pretty but i cant leave them bare. I drive my car daily and in all kinds of weather. For you guys who have polished your wheels what have you done to keep them staying shiny. I really would like to put clearcoat on but im not sure how much shine they will still have. Also what about using over the counter clear coat sold at auto part stores? Stuff is junk or what? We used it on my gf's wheels and it seems to be alright but we never polished hers they were just stripped so they arent that shiny. Im not sure how much of the shine over the counter clearcoat will cover up...? What about getting them professionally painted over. ANYBODY got any ideas? I read about zoopseal...and it looks interesting but for $100 for the kit theres gotta be some kind of alternative? Thanks for the help.

I'm not an expert, but I am pretty sure that if you polished your wheels, they will be too smooth for the clearcoat to stick to them. You will probably have to break down and get the Zoopseal, either that or polish them with aluminum polish often.

Tried it, even though it was cheap clearcoat it didn't last long at at, within a couple of weeks it was peeling badly and would come off easily.

You may want to look at the Mother's Power Ball. It doesn't give as good a shine as by hand, but it's good for just maintaining the wheels.

Man...If you want them to shine that much and you want that shine to last for a very long time.....get them done at a shop or something.

Do it.
