Chrome Grille

A third gen is pretty distinctive but I want to stand out from the crowd a little, more than a simple paintjob and tint can do. How about a chrome grille for my camaro. The RS style louvered grille except made of light steel or aluminium and chromed. I am a fabricator and this shouldn't be to bad to make, just tedious. I'm pretty sure im going to do this but I was just wondering what anyones thoughts were about it. Heck if theres enough intrest I may make a few more. Thanks for any input.

There is already a billet grill for the Camaros. But from what I hear they aren't a very good fit.

I'd be interested in seeing what you can come up with. And can't you just chrome the original plastic grilles that you mentioned?

Ahh atleast someone has a similar idea.Thats not what i'm talking about anyways, I'm talking about a grill just like the RS grille except chrome. (Angled fins spaced an inch or so apart) I don't like that grille you posted... doesnt really fit the camaro style to me. Anyone elses thoughts?

I would really have to see it on to make up my mind, I think one thing that makes my car stand out is the lack of chrome?

or, buy chrome paint and just paint the bumper, also ive heard of chrome that will go on anything . I remember seeing it on hot rod tv or some show like that where they dipped a kooosh football in it and it looked just like chrome and could be put on anything .

billet grilles look EXTREMELY good on a thirdgen when done right. However the only ones I've ever seen that looked good like that were on flathooded RSs. There's a black one where I work with a billet, extremely sick.

With a Z28 or IROC just keep your fog lights.

I think a chrome RS grill would look terrible. the slats are just too big. if done right I think the billet grill looks great. I love mine.

It would be identical to an rs grille so no fog lights unless u really mess with stuff. I think an rs grille would look 10x better than that billet grille, ehh beauty is in the eye of the beholder i guess.

What do you think modern chrome emblems are? And head/tail-light housings? Through a process called vacuum metalizing, you can get a chrome appearance on plastic.

I'm looking into this process as I'm interested in making some custom emblems for my ride (mainly one that says 6.4L Supercharged for the 'vert, and one for my truck that says 6.0L Supercharged in the same font as the model name)

Ive seen alot that don't fit correctly parked in the streets and in parking lots, I personally don't like the billet grille, The original RS grill looks perfect in my opinion and the billet grille looks like a whale.

I think it would look even slicker if you could put some fog lights behind the grille and push the grille up closer to the front not completey flush but recessed a little bit.
