Foose is the man in my books, period. (obviously he is only as good as his 'insider' is knowledgeable)

I figure the whole show is a charade, about like Survivor. The people who "own" the cars are following a script. But it would be nice to have the 60 or so people in the background take over my car for a week even though they put a layer of bondo on the whole car to get the body straight. And I've often wondered why they have so much trouble getting the engines to fire up? See this on Boyd's show too. No rocket science there, gas and spark at the right time.

If this was my car the first thing I would do was sell the wheels and tires and get that thing over to another paint booth fast.
Bad example. That was the one car that the owner got to design the car from start to finish. It wasn't Foose's idea for that car.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have only seen them do pre-smog, converter stuff. With a 3rd gen, you would have to pretty much be limited on engine stuff. otherwise the tree huggers would be having a cow. I think his stuff is pretty cool, and most of these people don't appear to be able to do their own cars. I could do a little less drama, like the phone pranks and stuff.

The interior would be very nice, flesh toned leather perhaps, and the engine would most likely be a built 383 or 400 (nothing spectacular). I'm a bigger fan of Troy Trepanier. At the powertour I got to see his Chicayne project. Now that was a car with serious power and great looks. Anyway, I shook his hand and congratulated him on a job very well done and moved on over to look at the Year-One camaro lol. I didn't see any Foose rides there but saw plenty of his wheels.
Ya... Troy Trepanier is probably one of the only guys that I think can compete with Foose. But it's hard to compare now because of all the Overhaulin cars Foose does on only the 1 week timetable; he couldnt possibly make that twin turbo Biscayne in a week. They are both uber.

Nope... they have done some late-model trucks, and a brand new Mustang. I think all they did to the engines is stick a Supercharger, headers and exhaust on them.

But that brings up a good point. Look at the people who get their car done... they never seem to be car guys, and if they are it's because they bit off way more than they can chew, like a 66 Rustang or something. It is mostly people who have inhereted cars from relatives, or just good people who wont give up on their car. So I dont think anyone could be upset that their cars got done.

Sure, you guys that have gotten your car to a level that you like would be pissed, but you would definately not be on the show.

---

Anyway, Foose is a love it or hate it kind of designer. That show would suck if he wasnt. But what would he do to a Third if it was on there? (Love it or hate it)

Here is the sketch I did. It was quick, small and I was working from my head.

They did build Dodge magnum for a gal. They put mostly subtle touches on it, nothing too in your face. They installed a supercharger, custom black leather interior, custom 300c grille, etc. Looked good. They did flames because she liked flames--I'm not much of a flames guy myself. They had the guy who does the "real" flames fly in from seattle to do them.

If you don't like the style, you have to remember that chip is interpreting the mark's style through the insider, so that tempers somewhat what he would do personally. several have said they wanted more original in style, and he has kept to that, while still making them nice. Most of the "marks" are people like me who have big dreams for their car, but either insufficient funds or insufficient time, or both. I've seen they do mild rebuilds, and extreme, so I think it all depends on what the tastes expressed by the insider are.

Of course, if we all had unlimited time and money, we'd all do some things differently, so more power to those that do the work themselves or would rather do it themselves.

It's one thing to say you don't like Foose's designs, but to say the man is not talented or is a tool is simply idiotic. Chip is a genuine person and does wonderful work.

personally, i think id have a hard time turnin down a Foose designed car. now this may not mean much comin from a 15 year old who doesnt own a camaro, but i have been into cars since a saw a chopped 50 merc at a local gas station. id let foose design and create a camaro for me, granted id have to have a say in it, but thats cuz it would have to me what i like. and like ive heard so many times b4, to each his (or her) own. and as for overhaulin', just b/c u may not like how the car turns out, its how the "mark" wants it.

Must be cool to be able to AFFORD EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT to do top your car.

Is it there yet?

Probably not.

WIll it ever be?

Probably not.

If Foose had it on OH, would it be? Probaly damn close.
Well said

foose builds the cars to what the insiders tell him. if you watch the show weekly like me you know this. as with this weeks car a 66 bronco i think im right on the year . the insider told him what the mark wanted to do to it and thats what was done. no flashy wheels on this one just white stock wheels with hub caps . and of course a 412 hp roush racing motor. i would not want him to do my 91 camaro but my 64 1\2 mustang
