bugs.. help!

So I can't find a reliable or easy way to remove bugs.. the front of my car is covered in splattered bugs (weekend warrior car). I've tried rubbing and scrubbing while washing and it just seems to smear them around and never completely removes them.

Is there a product I can use to get rid of them, or ?? Seems like good old fashioned elbow greese and soap just isn't doing it. Perhaps I waxed over them and sealed them in?

Thats the stuff I use. Go to AutoZone or Advance, they both carry it. They should also have a sbonge with like a netting on the outside that helps scrub off the bugs without scratching the paint.

spray some non stick cooking spray ( Pam )on the front before you head out for the weekend, an old timer told me to do that before heading on a road trip and the bugs wiped right off

all of the above... and then go buy a bra for spring, fall, and highway miles. nothing likes bugs and stone chips for ruining a nose

thanks guys, I'll look around for that "bugs be gone" stuff... sounds like that is exactly what I need.

as for the bra.. I do have one, but since I drive my car as a weekend warrior and when the mood hits, I find the bra does more damage then anything else. Also, I can't open the hood with the bra on... damn thing!

Get a Clear Bra. They don't have a kit for our cars yet, but they are working on one now. If ou don't want to wait, they sell it in bulk.. I don't use it yet, but I've heard good stuff.

The "PAM" on the front does work. My brother in laws Dad was a car dealer so when they transfered cars that's what they did. So I tried it and it worked.

Wouldn't putting PAM on it make like a grease slick look on the nose?

Axle/Gears: huh?? guessing stock.
another option for cleaning is to gget a towel soaked with HOT water. let it sit for a few mins. it tends to "rejuvinate" the bugs and they come off a lot easier. and them pam up next time. Ive been doing that for a few years.

or would it harm the paint? I've also heard of guys putting on their rear quarters before going racing or burning off their tires.. makes peeling off the rubber much easier. (or so I've heard)

Get a sponge with the netting on the outside, like said above. It's the same netting that you see on the sponge part of the window squeeges at gas stations. Takes bugs off with no problem.

The pam does indeed work. I used to spray my tires on my jeep with them before offroading, and drive on pavement for a mile, to make the contact surface normal rubber, and the treads slick to keep mud from sticking.

Pam works as a preventitive measure

I use warm-hot water a nylon/pantyhose thingie with some baking soda on it..
get the sock wet sprinkle a bit of baking soda on it then dab it on the bugs. go was the rest of the car and finish the bugs last keep the bs wet so you dont have to scrub real hard on your paint..
my car is black and the baking soda doesnt scratch it at all..

use a clay bar or bug and tar remover. I would suggest the clay bar myself.

But doesn't PAM leave like a grease slick on the paint so it would look slimy? And how do you get the PAM off seeing how it is greasy and prolly won't wash off the easiest with water?

With PAM you just mist it on and you can hardly notice. I've only used it if I was going on a road trip on the highway. Then you just wipe off the area when you get there. I'm not sure what it would do to your paint if you left it on there for a long time.

Nail polish remover and cotton *****. My sister's Cavi had not only bugs, but pine tar that had been on there for over a year and just cooked in the south Georgia sun. I tried the "bug and tar remover" stuff that was mentioned above and it didn't even make a dent in the problem. Read around and found out about the nail polish remover method. Worked like a charm. However you will have to rewash polish and wax the area after you're done. No big deal since I like doing that and it needed it anyways.
