i think the correct one is the available on 1985
but personally i dont like 2nd gen hood birds on thirdgens

Personally, I like them. If you drive a 3rd Gen Firebird, folks kind of expect that there is something diffferent about you (we won't go into that). It certainly is a conversation peice.
When I had my OEM hood, I was going to add a gold bird to my hood for certain. It would have gone well with the tan top and gold wheels my car had already. I had already shopped around and found what I wanted here:

As it stands now, I just added a formula hood and will be doing this anyway but with the "bulge bird".

There are many others on this forum with hood birds. The bottom line is you should do it if you think you'll like it!

Most Trans Ams have the hood Bird.
Just about 12 inches long, and at the bottom of the hood.
Firebirds have them on the nose, about 4 inches!
I like any of them, as long as they are OEM style, not those cheap copies.

if it will show up ive got a pic of my 86 trans am with its original hood bird. the bird has kind of deteriorated over the years but i like it and still get asked if im gona put one back on when i get her painted

I like the 3rd gen hood bird, its not as screaming as the late 2nd gen version

i had my 85 redone and had a custom bird airbrushed on. i don't care for the decal. here's alink a link to it lmk what you think for those going to third gen fest my ta will be there Team3rdGen
