Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Bought it back in March. Gave $7500. It is clean, straight, no accident history, 5 speed 305 and loaded. No leather, hardtop of course and power everything. The thing even has a block heater. I'm sure I paid too much (about a grand) but it was convienent, the owner is a member and it has never been messed with. All stock. With 120k on the clock it is higher mileage but not for its age. It has been taken care of (the 2 folders of service history I have). I'm happy with it and since March I've put on just at 1000 miles. Going to put in new fuel injectors and put a very light tint on the glass before Power Tour coming up soon. I've been looking at simple mods to help it run easier but not deviate from stock too much.

Bought my 88 GTA in October 2011 for $2000. Was sitting in storage for 6-7 years and only had 51,000 miles on the odometer!

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Damon23 That is a very nice looking car. I bet the LB9 5spd is a fun combination!
I paid 1700 which I think is too much. But it is an '83 z28 LG4 5spd with 89k miles. From what I can tell it sat outside, It is pretty baked from the sun. But it has NO rust top to bottom. Car was completely stock, and mostly original besides the wonderful paint job / sarcasm.
I watched the car on Craigslist for 2 months. He originally was asking 3500 and 2 months later I got him down to 1700 with a ton of negotiating. I like most others, paid a premium to have the 5spd. And around here finding a decent car is hard to come by. I am absolutely in love with this car. She will get fixed up.
So far, I have done a open air cleaner, Hooker headers, hooker y-pipe, 3" magnaflow exhaust. B&M ripper shifter. GTA wheels, Intrax springs, Founders adjustable panhard bar. MSD wires, and that's about it so far.
Sorry for writing a book.

The LB9 with the G92 is a kick. 10 more hp, 3.42 posi and 4wdb is nice. Dump the clutch at 3 grand and you'll be sideways.

My '86 Trans Am with a carbed 350 engine swap. Car had a recent new paint job and the interior is extremely solid.

Was listed at $2900 but got it for $2500. So far its been money well spent!
The prices for a good 3rd gen are getting ridiculous here in B.C, so I was really happy with this deal.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
I bought mine in October of 2011. She's a 1986 IROC-Z, new paint. The color is called Cobalt Blue Metallic. She had 50,533 miles when I picked her up. The odometer now shows 51,754. She was a barn find and sat for nearly 15 years. The interior was dirty, but intact, and all the weather stripping was still good, no leaks. The headliner was removed and replaced with a new ABS one from Hawks, along with new sunvisors and sail panels. Also got a new dash pad and rear hatch motor, and other minor emblems. The 305 was replaced with a corvette LT1 and the original TPI setup was used. I only paid $5700 for the car and I have about $1500 in her at this point. She is super clean and gets a lot of attention at car shows. You can check out the pictures in my profile. I have a ton of them I there of the restoration I did. Let me know what you think.

No rust is a very good point when buying these cars.. Who cares about paint it can be easily painted .. But rust could mean structural damage.. Looks like a good deal!

I paid 6,000 in Febuary. It's a 1991 GTA. I bought with 90K miles now it has 92K on it. It is 100% un molested and un modded except for a cat back. BUT I just ordered emissions headers and a borla so the unmodded part is going out the window.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Traded titles last week for my '89 Formula TPI--no cash exchanged. Traded this '70 Chevy truck. I wish I could've kept it, but no time, room, or money to operate both. I had a '90 Formula years ago and missed it.
The Formula has 31,000 original miles and was stored in a heated garage in the winter. Has the LB9 TPI with Positrac. Handles a LOT better than the truck!
Hard to say on the value of each one--vehicles are worth whatever the right person wants to pay. The truck needed suspension work, the ventilation system didn't work, the wiring was original and troublesome. The Formula is fully functional and like new. Who got the better deal? Don't know, but I'm happy.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

Where are you guys finding these cars?
I sold my other 87 IROC for $750, 2 years ago. It sat for 10 years(never turned over), obvious mouse infestation; rotten fuel lines, floors, rockers and fenders. The wheels wouldn't roll at first when he trailered it, and it had a Berlinetta steering wheel, showing it was jacked (twice) and he seemed happy about the purchase price.
You guys are finding nice runners for a little more than that! Good work.
Seems like a good time to buy another one. Shhhhh - my wifes in the other room.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Well before I put in my 355 with HSR set up the car originally had the 305 TPI, he originally wanted 1800 for it. But he was going to let me make 2 payments of 900 dollars. However when I drove it home the car died and would not start again. He offered to give me my money back but I told him how bout you keep the 900 and you give me the title. So he did. I pretty much stole it lol. And when I pulled the 305 out I found out the engine block had cracks AND holes in it and couldnt even be used or rebuilt. Thats my story lol

Here's my 86 trans am that i just bought for $2500. I'm sure its a ws6 being its got 16 inch wheels rear discs and a thick sway bar up front but no rpo's to justify this. no rust anywhere, I can see gray metal everywhere under the car right down to the dust covers on the rotors. she needs some work but has clean carpets and a full interior.( yes those are sidepipes and yes theyll be gone next paycheck) so did i get a good price?

$4,000 for a '89 iroc convertible. 67,500 miles, we'll call ot 90% original... it has had the usual parts replacedd, injectors, brakes, tires, the ENTIRE ignition system (still oem, just new) and fuel pump. interior needs a good detailing but is in good shape other than the pos armrests.......
top is nearly perfect, weatherstripping and top dont leak and a/c is still factory charge and brrrrrrr chilly.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Funny story really. I had a 96 Ram 1500 given to me by my father for Christmas back in 07 or 08. A friend of mine really wanted it so i traded him for a 95 Ford conversion van in almost perfect condition. I then traded that off for a 93 Jeep wrangler i saw for sale for 2500. About 6 months later i saw a 07 Ninja 250 for sale for 2500. It had less than 800 miles on it and i talked the guy into trading strait up. About 6 months after that i found a 53 ***** Sedan Delivery for sale for 2500, i again talked that guy into trading for the bike.
Here's the ****** as it was when i got it.

then after a $50 rattle can paint job.

I drove this as a daily driver for about 9 months or so mind you. No power steering, no power brakes, original 4.29 gearing and loved every minute of it. But doing a max speed of 65-70 got old after a while. so i found an 85 Trans am for sale and i traded again, strait up.
Here it is when i first got it. Completely original, no rust anywhere with 99k miles.

and then after 1100 dollars worth of exhaust from headers back and a new paint job.

then added the hood after trading for my stock hood

hood still needs painted but if i trade again i have about 3000 into the car at this point and i'm still figuring i got it for about $2500?? or so im going to have to go for a nice GTA or 4th gen T/A... Amazing what you can trade up to sometimes.
