Interesting that you refer to it as an IROC. It doesn't have the B4Z code, but it does have the N96 code for 16" wheels, which were supposed to be available on IROC's only. I like this car too, which is why I'm not using it as a donor. It's in much better condition than the pictures show, especially for being a Northeastern car.

It's gotta be an IROC. The wheels plus the body colored ground effects. It just looks like it needs some TLC. How many miles?

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

Bought mine in '95 for $3,300 width 95k on the odometer. Paint was a little wild but otherwise in very good shape.

Did a re-paint right away and started doing minor mods.

Over the years the mods have been: 9-bolt 3.27 rear with PBR brakes, 145 mph speedometer, over-head console, 4th gen seats and coming soon hood blisters. It now has about 130k miles and is still running strong.

I paid $4800 three years ago. In today's economy $4000 will get you a real nice car. Be patient.

This is the first picture I took of her.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

i didnt want to start a whole new thread for this so this seemed like a good place to ask how much do you guys think a 87-90(not sure on the exact year yet)iroc is worth with t tops a 305 5 speed 178,000kms its maroon with the grey interior thats in good shape no tears but it is getting moldy so needs a good shampooing but the reason im asking is cause its been in some sort of chase and has been pitted in the rear driver side quarter the damage isnt that bad and didnt damage anything but the rear quarter the crush bar behind the back bumper is spotless that being said it needs a new rear bump and tail lights.since i dont know if its running what do you guys think it would be worth running and also not running thanks for any help i want to go offer the guy some money for it but i dont want to insault him with a lowball offer

Hard question to answer....If the T-Tops are leaking (you mention mold) I have to ask if you checked for rust under the carpet (floorpans)...Any other rust? Pictures would really help too! Other than a shampoo is the interior is good condition? Tires? Exhaust? Paint?
A shot in the dark: $1000-$1500 if the engine doesnt run and $2000-$2500 if the engine does...
Getting a 5sp IROC with T-tops is somewhat rare and will help with value down the road assuming everything else is in good order.

the interior is in great shape no tears the dash is mint not a crack on it not fading but it does need some wheels and tires its got steelies on it right now.i cant see any visible rust but i havent really checked to much its at my buddys dads lot(not a dealership lol) so i just took a quick look paint is all in great shape no peeling nothing but the quarter has to be replaced so that kinda ruins the nice paint and i dont know if its the t tops that leak because the driver door sags alot about an 1inch and theres alot more mold on the driver side so im thinking the water came in there and its got power seats

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

Pull the carpet on the drivers side and inspect for rust (your probably going to find quite a bit). I dont know if you know this but 3rd gen's dont have a frame--they are unibody cars and the floorboards are a key part of the structural integrity of the car--if they are badly rusted you will have problems! Get on your back and get a good look underneath the car! I would really recommend you take this car to a mechanic and have it inspected (especially if its not running)....Buying a car for $1500 wont seem like such a good deal if you have to spend another $3000 fixing it and rust has to be your biggest concern.

ya i know there unibodys and next time im there ill check underneath and i would never pay 1500 for this car lol i was thinking more in the neighbourhood of 800 and its ok if theres **** to fix i like that plus i got the ole dodge to drive for now anyway so there would be no rush to get this one on the road except for me trying to contain my excitment for however many months it took to finish haha

idk if im just cheaper then everyone else or what but to me that car not running is worth $800 max running adn driving i would be hard pressed to pay more then $1500..fixing body damage and paint can add up pretty quick and not worth it unless you can do most of it your self IMO

I found em all on craigslist, and parted out all of them except the red 89 which is my dads car and is now the same blue ad my convertible and has an LS1 in it. I'm still parting out the black one.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

$600 dollars about 2 weeks ago, $790 with tax and fully registered from the dealer. I have since replaced the fuel filter, and the tires. Now it starts up lightning fast. I had created a thread earlier about it starting slowly. It had dry rotted tires with perfect tread, which leads me to believe it sat for years. Thats why the fuel filter was shot, and it was impeding the starting process. The odometer stopped reading at 64k, but from the looks of the engine bay, it dosent seem far past its 60k tuneup! More reason to believe it is low milage is the fact the interior is almost perfect. Added a set of 77' rally wheels with red center caps. The set was $130, and they were completely restored from a 77' Ventura. The interior is near perfect like I said; no cracks in the dash, no fading, one rip in the seat. Take my word, I havent seen a nicer interior yet. The only reason the dealer was selling it is because the transmission mount was shot. I obtained a cross member from a automatic firebird and bolted that on, with the automatic mount which cost 10 bucks. The manual mount for an 88' is obsolete, and GM wanted $212 for a new one. Amazing find.

you really just need to patient....and know what your looking at. i for one try to pick stuff up that doesn't need a ton of work, the only thing i really took a chance on was a non running LT1 4th gen for 800 that was almost perfect with low miles....turned out to need an opti and i made 2300 on it

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

Ok so i dont have a before pic but i got my car for nothing. It didnt have a running motor, the interior was a mess and apart, the body was straight but paint was a mess.

here is the result of countless hours and about 5 years, this was the day after it came home from paint:

$2000 1989 iroc z28 w t-tops, 350, automatic, starts on starting fluid trying to figure what's causing not to start, came with full boltons, full suspension done, chassis is reinforced, edelbrock alumnum heads, headers, dual exhaust , slp runners, bbk throttle body,17" irocs,b^m shifter, it was just my luck on finding this one, the orig owner died and i offered 2k to the old lady and she took the offer!! just be patient and wait till the right deal comes across and jump on it!! good luck!!Name: 35575_1333229127847_1144591393_749291_7016763_n.jpg

Thanks! It's a Dupont paint...pepper metallic gray. Just search for the same color as "Eleanor" on the movie "Gone in sixty seconds, and someone has the lot numbers and everything. I believe the black stripes are metallic also..

Thanks! Yeah, I'm debating between Gun metallic gray and this one, I need to see them together, I think I like the darker one of the two, whichever that one may be. And I bought all Z28 Black interior from Classic Industries so I think it'll look great!

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

$3500....and never looked back...paid a little high at the time bc of the body damage(front & rear quater panel dented and front bumper was cracked) a/c had issues, headlights didnt work right, torn rear seats, ttops leaked, and the list goes on..... but it had exactly what i wanted...5 speed + 350 + ttops

this was after i bought her the same night
