BTW. My dad just bought a 91 RS vert for $4900 and it's very nice. The interior & the top have been redone by pros. The exterior nice too. It has a couple of dings, but not a spec of rust anywhere. Oh yeah it has 90k on it.

The day we brought it home.

Car: '88 Sport Coupe - 383 Stroker
Paid $150 last year - no engine or tranny. Car is an 1988 Camaro Sport Coupe. OE was a 305 and T5 manual.

External pic before purchase is attached, as is what the engine compartment looked like.

I'm currently cleaning up engine compartment for installation of 383 paired to a 700R4.

Enjoy!

Paid $1,000. Just had a 350 put in it right before I got it and that motor only had 80k on it then. Body has 135k. Has ran great since day one. Only thing I have had to replace is the fuel pump when it started leaking. This is what she looked like when I got her.

And now. But most the changes occured in the first month lol.

Still a work in progress as usual.

This is my 1988 Vert. The previous owner invested $15,000 in it, lost his storage spot, got PO'ed, put it in his front yard with a "For Sale" sign on it. I jumped on it at $6,000. I dumped another 2 G's in the Rock 'N Roll system, replaced some high dollar convertible only interior pieces, and rebuilt the tranny, total of $10,000 or so ($6,500 if the misses asks) invested.

I looked at all the posts in this thread, and the insurance industry will put you over a barrel and break it off in you if you don't get an agreed value policy. I have mine through Hagerty. Hagerty Collector Network The agreed value of my Vert is $18,000, and it only runs $324 a year in premiums. Check the site to see if your car qualifies.

Is that kinda like having your car appraised? Because I plan to have mine appraised this coming month. I've got way too much money in this car to only be insured for a $4,000 car give or take

You don't need an appraisal to get Hagerty to insure the vehicle unless the agreed value exceeds $50,000.

Go to the site and do an on-line ap, or call 800-922-4050. They will have you send photos of your car. It took me about 15 minutes to send 4 digital pics and get my quote. I have been dealing with them for years, and they are a great company. They also wrote the policy on my '70 Nova.

I hope this helped.

So do they send the information to your insuranace company, or do you actually go THROUGH THEM for insurance?

Hagerty is an insurance company, and has nothing to do with your current policy holder. In order to insure through Hagerty, you must have a primary car insured through another carrier, and show Hagerty the policy on the primary car. Hagerty will then insure your second car , ie your Camaro, if it meets their other qualifications. Give them a call, they are a great company. I'll PM you with my phone number if you want.

i got this running TA from a friend for $50 in 2001. he was going to junk it. it came with some crappy $30 mag wheels which i immediately sold - that's why no wheels in the pic. i think i have over $9K invested in it now. i stopped keeping track a couple years ago. you can see how it looks now in my vbgarage.

i traded a 97 honda accord for my 88 IROC and a 95 olds cutlass supreme so i can't really say what I paid for it exactly. You could say like $2500ish? But it's got 67k original miles, hardtop, mint black interior, exterior is all original and besides the typical rock chips on the front bumper cover the body is mint and rust free. Not a bad score for trading a honda.

I checked the site to see if my car qualifies and it says it must be older than 1986 to qualify in the "modified" division. I guess I can call them

Do you get a special rate for driving low miles? Ive been trying to get that thru my regular insurance and they say no. I drive the car less than 100 mil permonth

I have hagerty as well and it is a great company. My agreed value of my T/A is $15,000 basically you have to fill out a "build sheet" with all the goodies your ride has as well as send in some high res. pics so they can verify them. Also as far as mileage i set my own mileage and i guess they approved them, set mine up for 5,000 a yr. which is great cause i don't even have half that and my yr. ends in dec like Dunlap said go to the site and fill in the info you will get a packet if all goes well with instructions. good luck.

OK, talked to them on the phone, and for a classic car or modified car, it must be older than 1986. For an exotic or special interest car it must be a minimum value of $15,000. That is stretching it a bit for me, so I guess I don't fit into any category and cant use them.

My 85 ROC

I bought this just a few months ago. It sat through a winter, so it was pretty rusty as you can see in the first picture. The family I bought it from said 2,000 and they'd paint it for me. It turned out pretty sweet. My exhaust fell off at a stop light, and I put a whole Flowmaster system in it for around 500, so 2500 bucks and it went from that gray piece of junk to the beautiful thing it is now.

Check me out on CarDomain: 1985 Chevrolet Camaro - Aaron's Chevrolet "The Roc"

the car in my aviator picture I got for 1200

A young guy traded it in for a malibu (I am not lyin). He wanted 3500 I showed him 2500 on paper and jacked the price of the car 1700. My Used car manager knew I wanted it and only put 800!!!! in it

the motor is out of it right now and the hood and the side impact strips are off it now. Jean Gray would have a fit if I took pictures of her right now.

Not to mention all the bondo dust comming of the 69 C-10

I dont even want to know how much I have put in Jean over the last 4 years. Dont Ask its depressing. I do all the labor on most everything and I do not want to know what that is worth either

I will say I am spanking 5.7 GTO's on the open road with a 5.0 with stock heads intake and runners

I paid $7,000. 1988 GTA Original notchback, new 350 (slightly modded). Wouldn't trade it for anything.

$30,000 somethin CDN brand new back in 1989.
I don't remember anymore because I lost the original dealer invoice, build sheet, window sticker, and 1990 new car brochure in the move to my present house.

$3000

I think we paid to much. The suspension was shot, engine was a mess. But it did have a restored interior. To bad it's totalled now...

way too many motors, way too much parts, way too much money.. about $35,000.. 2 motors, 3 rebuilds, 3 cam and lifter sets, 3 sets of pushrods, 2 sets of roller rockers, 2 balancers, 2 flywheels, 4 or 5 sets of clevite H-series bearings, 2 oil pans, 3 intake manifolds, 3 carbs, countless sets of gaskets, and thats just the motor.. the list goes on..

I'm not much of a 3rd gen Bird/TA fan, but that is definately a car I'd own. That color combined with that tan interior is perfect, that is hands down the best looking TA I've ever seen. Do you know what color that is?

I paid $2500 for my 1987 yellow IROC with 97654 miles this march 2006. It came with a 3 inch flowmaster, 3 inch dynomax converter, pioneer speekers and deck. The paint is really nice until you get to what is under the bra. My T-tops are in perfect condition and the whole underbody was painted recently. The interior is also in mint condition. From when I bought it I have spent over 600 in parts. Most of them were to get it running right and not stall randomly. I will try to post pictures but it is kind of hard with garbage dial up. Right now it has 9900 miles.
