wtih that kind of money you could find a really nice 3rd or 4th gen. its all about timing and looking in the right place. if u come across one of those "double what its worth" cars and u really like it just make an offer.

As far as places to look, try looking in your local auto trader newspaper or whatever u have. take backroads u dont normally take just to see if someone has someting u might like for sale. might try autotrader.com or ebay. if you find a car and it happens to be close, look at it and make an offer to end the auction if u really like it. this guarantees that you will get a car u know u want at YOUR price.

Well, lets see

For my 1989 Trans Am, I paid $2000 for it in '04. It came with 95k miles. I since then have spent an additional $7k in repairing the car (this includes a new motor and damage done to my baby from getting stolen)

For my 1986 Camaro I paid 2.2k for it in '00. I am the second owner on this, just rolled over 100k original.

Im actually trying to get one of the moderator's (92Formula) cars. Hes got a 97 SS camaro. If that doesnt work out for some reason, I wouldn't mind getting a thirdgen, but like i said, they're so hard to find. I personally would rather have one i could mod a fair bit (unlike my heritage), but i really dont wanna deal with repaints and/or bad paintjobs. Id love to paint my own car, but i dont have anywhere to do it and to have it done somewhere costs a small fortune.

But just by the looks of it, i could get a pretty nice thirdgen for 3-4k.

would pass the stupid washington emissions test. got a dui then left it in
my possesion while his license is suspend. i love the car so much that im
trying to buy my own before he comes down next week to take the car back.
needs a new paintjob(paint is flaking off in spots due to a bad previous paint job) but she runs like a dream.
(note this car is a 87 sport coupe dont be fooled. that is me in the picture)

Paid $625 for her back in April. LG4/ 5sp/ 3.23.

Didn't run when I got her and had all kinds of issues. Interior is out of my old 84 Sport Coupe. This thing was pretty thrashed inside. Had a severe dent in back, pushed most of it out, replaced a taillight (old ones from my 84) but it still needs a new bumper cover. New Distributor, non CC Q-jet, coil, belts, new fluids all around, New thermostat and valve cover gaskets (leaked oil out of there BAD) Also pulled the Emission wiring, the AC compressor. Knocks real bad if you don't put 91 octane in it. Also loves to float the valves at anything more than 70mph. For sale right now for $750. My Last Third gen was an 84 sport coupe with a LC1 (carbed 2.8) and a 5 speed. bought her for $200, spend another 300 to get it running, and fix the driver door sag. which I did only to find out that just doing a compression test would have saved me about $295. It had sucked two exhaust valves.

THE NEW PROJECT!! 1986 Berlinetta that the LG4 and 700R4 were ditched for the 5 speed out of the black car above, and a L82 out of a 1977 Corvette.

Picked this one up for Dirt Cheap....interior is in the best shape of the 3 third gens I've had.

I paid alittle less than $3000 for my 87 TA over 5years ago. Left her alone for the most part... New seats, new console, alittle mechanical tinkering... This was then...:

This is now: LS1/T56, 12bolt, lots of mods to drive line, all new suspension, 17" Polished WS6 wheels... too much to list...too much money spent.

I purchased my 92 back in April of 98.. It was a 25th 3.1lv6 bone stock car.

I paid 4000.00 us for her, financed for 2 years. This photo she had a system, window tint, and aftermarket rims.. thats bout it.

my 89 Convertible below, I paid 2800.00 for her in September of 05. 79xxx origional miles, was getting to the point of needing a new top.. some ******* with a knife felt like he wanted my radio more than me, so he got the stereo and now i need a new top.. its a 305/a4 car.

In 1998 I paid $9000 cdn for my '88 GTA. She was all original, except the 700R4 had been rebuilt. She had 97,000km on her, about 50k miles, and was in perfect condition. She has 127,000 km today. She was a 350TPI car.

Since then I have put about $25,000 cdn into the car. Everything from a Minirammed 383, to a completely new 700R4, new suspension front and rear, gears, paint, nitrous, etc.

Today she looks like this picture minus the GTA badges. I decided after she was painted, black or course, to leave the badges off for a new look. Little things like that help when you have been looking at the same car for eight years!

Right now my son is 5 years old, so I've got about another 13 or 14 years to enjoy with her before she goes to her new owner.

Holy cow there's some nice cars on this thread. I paid $1,700 for my purple RS about 7 or 8 months ago, $600 for my Berlinetta about 5 years ago. The Berlinetta has lots of miles on it, the RS says 69k on the odometer, but the odometer wasn't working when i got it, had to get that fixed so I really don't know about the milage.

Found mine at a Shell Station that been sitting for a year and got it for $2500.

Haven't really started on my car except for custom exhaust system and Mods already on it, still helping my dad finish up with his Nova.

Paid $2495.00 for my 1991 Firebird V6. Very high mileage (176,xxx Miles) but the car is well maintained, single owner, and I recieved all the maintenance records from the dealer. Previous owner was a smoker, so the interior needs some MAJOR cleaning. I also want to pick up a new drivers seat.....the seat lays back completely at the moment, and the ground effects have been beat up a bit, but otherwise, I like the car, Alot.

Total invested in the car so far......about 50 bucks.

I'm enjoying it.

Zero Out.

I bought my car just over a month ago, it has 109,000 miles on it, but it is still very tight, doesn't smoke or use oil. Everything on the car works, it was well taken care of. Interior looks good. They were asking $5,000 for the car, but after looking at it several times, we came to an agreement at $3,900. I feel like I got a very good deal on the car with it being a factory 350 hardtop Z. Its all stock with the exception of K&N Filters and a full Flowmaster exhaust system.

Paid $2900 in Aug. 2001, it had metal showing where the paint was gone and the interior was tore up with 88k mi. With all the receipts, I've spent about $12k on it, including two paint jobs, rims, suspension, stereo, etc. The engine is looking to be another $9k with T-56 tranny.

Yours is one of my favorite cars on this site. Reminds me of a Harley Davidson Edition

That color combo is friggin sweet in my opinion.

Haha. Thanks man, I'm really happy with the way it turned out with the color combo and the color seperation; to be honest, it's one of my favorites on here to... but that could be biased answer.

Paid $12,800 Canadian for it in 1992 was only 4 years old at the time, searched high and low for a clean car, this was it. Only had 49,000 Km (not miles) on it.

Since then i redid tranny (under warranty, had to put up a big fight for that) I used the car to compete car audio. Redid all the leather in the car, went with a different shade of tan, brighter and much softer. Also i repainted the car because at night the car looked brown, so i went with a lighter maroon, little more red in it.

Now its time for supercharger, brakes, suspension, 19/20 rim combo.

Got mine last year in Feb. for about $2300.It was the only T-5 92 i could find on ebay at that present time.I got lucky b/c it was only 25-30 minutes from my house and it was only a 2nd owner.Passenger side quarter panel right behind the door was a little banged up but other than that, everything else was stock.Odometer read 243,xxx miles on it's original 305TBI.After a while, i switched it over to a 357 TBI.Soon enough, it'll be getting carbed. Also added a few other personal goodies to it.prolly $2000 invested in it so far.Pics aen't perfect but this is all i got for right now.

$4600 about a 1 yr. ago and so far I have about 2k+ in it and I still have a long way to go. The 305 had a blown head gasket at the very least (still haven't checked it out), so I was fortunate to get 60k mile 350 out of a 90 iroc to drop in ($550). You can find verts for under 5k, but they're going to need a little work as mine does, but they're so worth it (IMO)!

Here's current pics.

Here's the pick from the Autotrader add!
