from what I've heard about Maaco, prep it yourself and specify EXACTLY what you want. A little work on your part saves a lot of headaches...their paint jobs can look good, just check out the shop's past work to make sure they're capable of quality work.

a few years back I used maaco a few times and had no problems with them at all.
But remember you do get what you pay for. If you go for the 159.99 special, that is what you can expect to get a 160 dollar 5hitty job. Now the base coat clear coat job there is good, but also a higher priced job.

NO MAACO!!!!!!

My dad has painted cars for a living for the past 20 years. I know what kind of shop Maaco is...
The previous owner of my Camaro had it painted at Maaco (instead of taking it to my dad and paying for a better job). He ended up paying around $400.
It's been a little over 4 years, and the entire back half of my car is faded, and the rear decklid has NO clearcoat on it. The only reason the front half is still shiny is because the guy wrecked it and he had it painted somewhere else... Now they did a DAMN good job on it... but Maaco... Please, for your car, don't.

With Maaco, it all depends on the individual shop. Don't you notice how some of us have good experience with them, and some of us don't? Fortunately, my neighbor told me his son had his truck painted by a local Maaco, and they did a real nice job.

Like it has been said many times before you get what you pay for. A $400 dollar job anywhere is not going to be worth a ****. Hell $400 would not buy the supplies for a nice paint job. Maaco will do a decent job but must be the base coat clear coat and not the single stage $400 special.

Not true.... the $400 was for the base coat/clear coat job. The special is the $199 Ambassador Paint Job... I'd hate to see it if he got THAT one... It is true though, you get what you pay for, like everyone else says... All-overs at my dad's shop START at $1200... But you better believe that when your car comes out, it's gonna look like it's made of glass...
