Question for the paint gods.

I know that different paint colors in the primer will affect the final paint color. I want to put racing stripes on my car, but I don’t want them obvious. I want wide stripes, maybe 10' wide, with bout a 3-4 in space in between. I also am doing my car in the gold, black paint scheme, because it is a gta. My idea is to paint the car dark blue primer, then white, then yellow racing stripes also in primer. Then paint the entire car black over all primer to get that subtle gold look. Has anyone done or seen this before, and would it work?

PUT ON A LOT OF COATS . . . . EVEN THO IT ISN'T WINTER

When you apply enuff paint, even if you
had a picture of a checkered flag on your
car it would not show thru.
Even the “pros” are fooled by the idea:
‘If we prime it in white, then this color will look super bright.’
Therefore prime your car normally. Now because
you are looking for a subtle stripe job, mix your
colors like that. You know what colors you want
therefore mix ‘em that color and lay it on.
Remember your paint’s gotta be thick enuff
to wet sand it to perfection.
Happy Racing!

they’d be going backwards.”

You could spray on some gold pearl for that subtle effect...

I THINK you just get some inter-coat clear (different from the top-coat clear) and mix in a bit of gold pearl (you'll have to experiment to find out how much to mix) then just mist it on the car very lightly. And make sure you keep stirring the paint so the pearl doesn't settle. I'm no pro though, so I'm sure someone else can help more.

I agree with NINA especially with black paint it will cover anything in a couple coats, you dont have to get super fancy with primers to get great looking paint. You just have to spend days block sanding.

i am not worries bout the sanding, i run sanders for 2-3 hours a day at work, and have ben doing it for a decade, i just really want something unique, but i dont want somthing that is two obvious, i just want it to de something you will see if you take a second look, almost like gost flames, but with wide stripes. i was originally just going to paint the car a gloss black, then paint the stripes in a black metalic, but i thought it would look nice to bring some gold into it.
