HDR Shot of GTA

This is an HDR shot of my 88GTA.

HDR is a series of photos (6 in this case) taken at different exposures combined to bring out all the details of a subject (in this case, all of my swirls and dust).

Have a ton more pics from the shoot ill post later!

This is at midnight, in the *pitch black*

You need a camera that has full manual shooting with a pretty high ISO capability.

We used a Nikon D50, no flash or anything.

HDR images are becoming very popular. In my opinion they are hit and miss. Some come out great, and some come out ok. I did about six of them before one came out decent. Here is the one I think came out ok:

I hope i'm not going too offtopic, but here are some well done HDR's, they almost look like sketches:

I'd like to try it during the day because that looks awesome. Did you use photoshops merge to HDR?

If your camera can shoot in the raw mode, you can probably get away with 2 or 3 shots.
Using 2 shots, you'd expose like this,
+1
0
That should give you enough range to play with, 3 full stops up and 2 full stops down..

For anyone that is interested in what HDR is all about, check out Paul Debevec Home Page, there is a ton of great information on that site. I first came across it when lookinf into HDR for my 3DSM modelling.

Also, for anyone that is interested in creating there own HDR images, head over to www.HDRshop.com and grab the free software utility for creating HDR images. Ver. 1 is still freeware, however, Ver. 2 is commercially licensed but contains several more featues. I have only used Ver. 1 but it has plenty of options for getting the job done.

Here is a pretty thorough tutorial on using HDRShop to create an HDR image. The tutorial assumes that you have a pretty good working knowledge of cameras and how they function.

Constructing HDR Image Using Camera Response Curve
