4th gen rear or 3rd gen rear with spacers?
I decided instead of getting the American Racing TTII's, I'd get either the SLP 10 spoke 17" Chrome plated rims found on the new SS's, or the 5 spoke 17" Chrome plated rims found on WS6 Transams....they are 17X9...i think the SS ones are $899 for all four and the WS6 ones for $1499. Anyways, it'll be awhile before I buy them...first I am going to redo the suspension...and get a new 3.23 posi rear end with disc brakes...my question is......would it be better to get a rear end from a thirdgen and use spacers or a rear end from a fourth gen with no spacers? Here are more specific questions about it:
1)Will it be harder to switch in a fourth gen rearend?
2)Will I beable to use my stock rims on the fourth gen rearend until i get the new rims?
3)I heard that a fourth gen rear end will stick out i think an inch on each side....will it make it look crappy with my tires sticking out that much out of the car?
4)If i stick with a 3rd gen rear end and use spacers...will it still stick out?
5)Will 17X9 rims fit in front and back? (i think tire size is 275/45/17)
6)Will the tire/wheel swap throw off my speedo? If so, how do i fix it?
7)As far as posi...is it just part of the rear end...or are there any other connections I need to make
That SHOULD be all the questions...I cant think of anymore right now. Thanks for your help

mult68,
As for question #5 & #6, I have a 92 Z28 with 17x9 Camaro SS wheels W/ 285x40x17 on both the front and rear.
I had to use spacers.
Speedo is on the money.
Here's a pic of my car and my web site with lots of pics and list of mods.
