Bad Day - Scratch repair questions

Although I haven't pissed anyone off lately, someone decided it would be cool to key the entire drivers side of my car. Any suggestions on a fix, other than a new paint job. This is all after someone side swipped my wife in my 4th gen and kept on driving. $1300 in damage, not bad could be worse, but all in all it was a sh@#ty day.

hi, I know how you feel someone keyed my car last week at school. I waxed the spot a couple of times (pushing kinda hard applying the wax)It took some off, but my dad asked a body shop guy he knows and he said he could possibly spray some paint on the spot and buff or wax it in, so you might wanna ask a body shop if they can do that. depending on how deep the scratches are you might be able to wax them out.
I will let you know more after I get mine fixed. Hope that helps

if the're not too deep and there is still paint under the scratch you can buff it out.

if not and there is chipping you should either go for an insurance claim if you have comp or get some touch up paint and plan to do alot of wet sanding!

Thanks for the info. I guess I will be doing alot of wet sanding. Either that or start prepping her for a good paint job and drive around a primer gray for awhile, LOL. It was originally black, then yellow, now black again and it was althe way down with chip, oh well. Thanks again.

whatever you do, do not drive around with a primered car! i see guys drive primered cars all the time and they don't realize how stupid it is. primer does not seal out moisture. your car will rust into a pile if you don't seal it with paint. look at a car that has been primered and then driven for awhile, the primered areas are covered with rust. this pits the sheetmetal and you have to have a special high build primer to fill in pits(also used for hail damage). my dad is a body man, i know. driving a car with only primer is the worst thing you can do.

Super,

Thnx for the advice, I didn't realize the damage it would cause. I wouldn't do it because of the stupid looking part. Thanks again.

superz, is right about the primer. but there are certain kinds of primer that will resist water (not sure what it is called)But according to my uncle (very knowlagable)it is very expensive.

If the scratch is not deep than a little wet sanding and buffing will do the trick. If it is deep then most likely you will have to have the door repainted.Or if you just want a temp fix then apply some black paint over the scratch but then you will look cheap .....I hate people that do that s***....It is the main concern about me being hesistent on taking my car to school in two weeks because i have worked my butt off and then some rice ***** comes along and does art work on my car......Anyways Good luck
