Glass cleaning question......

Does anyone know the best way to remove what appears to be some kind of heavy water spots on the outside of my door glass? The best way that I can describe it is that it looks like something dripped on the glass and left spots. Here's what I've tried so far:

Razor blade
Paint thinner
Chrome polish

The only thing that remotely removed anything is Mother's Metal Polish!!!
Heay hand polishing with it actually made a slight difference. But they are still visible. You can clearly feel the texture of this on the outside of the glass!!

Has anyone used harsher chemicals like ammonia or ?????? Is wetsanding an option here?? I heard that's a b!tch. Or should I just replace the galss?

Thanks
Mark

I have the same problem and I haven't found a solution either. Vinegar and water (1:1) is supposed to work but it didn't work for me. Glass is "refurbishable", replacing it is not necessary and as soon as hard water gets on it again it'll have spots again.

What about this product?

Eastwood Company: Auto Tools, Body Repair, Classic Car Restoration, House of Kolor Paint, Powder Coating

I wat told that 0000 steel wool and vinegar may work. I think I'll try that and if not then possibly try this product.

Has anyone heard of this? Or better yet used it?

There was a recent write-up in one of the car mags on the following product. It was given a thumbs-up:

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...ory_Code=Zaino

Found the review in SuperChevy (Sept. 06). In part the article states: "I have yet to find a stain that Z-12 could not remove from glass."

Here is the trick, available at places like Car Quest and maybe others:

"Duragloss 755 Nu-Glass" Removes water spots, tree sap, bugs and road film.

It's about $5 bucks for an 8 oz. bottle but goes a long way.

It works wonders.Trust me!

Another good product comes in a can like comet except the can is gold instead of green. It's called Barkeep's Friend. It removes some water spots and especially road film. Makes the wipers run smooth as silk.

Clay bar will likely get rid of it. Of course, then you'll want to fully detail the whole car - wash, clay, polish, wax. It will look beautiful!!!

An old detail guy let me in on his "secret" to remove water spots from windows. Wire wheel cleaner. Put it on with a rag in the shade while the glass is cool. Wipe it off with a wet rag. Just make sure you don't get it on the rest of the car. Took every spot of of my windows.

Quick tip: use an orbital buffer to rub it in (if you have one). And then remove it by hand. Doesn't swirl or anything, and I am very picky about stuff like that.

Well the question has been answered. The Zaino product really works! I just tried it by hand and it took off all spots and residue. The glass looks like glass now!

This is an outstanding product. Thanks for the help guys

For the record, if you have this problem again, don't go out and buy an expensive Zaino product. Just go to autozone and get the Eagle 20/20 or InvisibleGlass. Both are airosol can window cleaners and will clean windows better than any other product I have used before. Both are around the $6.00 ball park

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned kerosene.

Yeah, it's flammable, but it is an ideal glass cleaner. Maybe nowadays it is kinda 'cave-mannish' with all the new products and all, but you might already have this in your garage.

Just keep it away from your paint!

And it does very nicely, though it requires a lot of elbow grease to remove. I use it every so often.
