Post Up Your Redone Irocs
I want to see some restored Iroc rims on some cars...I've looked countless hours on a good alternative wheel package, but I don't think repolished and repainted irocs can be beat...they flow well with the body style IMO..
so let me see what you have...show off your hard work

very nice car indeed. Those are aftermarkets and 17's though I believe...still a very nice car however...it would take alot of polishing on a stock wheel to get to those standards!!!
also, stock irocs are aluminum correct?

lol did anyone even read this guys post?
i did some searching and I found quite a few pics of refinished wheels, but none of them are pics of them on the car..
aftermarket triple chrome plated irocs are neat, and nice to look at...but they aren't refinished stock irocs..
also, maroon88iroc, I know you were trying to sell that car...did it ever sell? I thought it was a good deal..

I was just thinking while reading this, that i wonder if you could get ahold of the makers of the chrome IROCS and buy a set before chrome in larger diameter than stock!!

I had my stock rims mine re machined and then hyper silver painted. This is what they looked like.I just wasn't happy with the look though and bought the replica triple chrome dipped 18's on a lower profile tire.To me looks way better!

I've got my gold/aluminum stock '89 Irocs polished. They look pretty darn good, and I get lots of compliments on them at shows. My personal computer is down, and it has all my pics, but I'm sure there's a few floating around TGO if ya look hard enough!!!
....as for chrome Irocs.....well, not my thing. The beauty of Iroc wheels are in the design of the wheel. The shape and detail in the spokes. The lines that run into the hole for the lugnut. The contrast between the aluminum and the paint. They don't [I]need[I] more attention. The chrome just takes away from the wheel as a whole in my opinion.
I love chrome, but not on Irocs.

The painted areas on mine were still in good shape. So i masked them off then sanded with 100 grit on the flat areas. To get the clear off, then wet sanded up till about 2000 or so. Saves you from having to refinish them. If you like the color that is.
I pulled the masking tape. As i was using the 2000 on the bare metal parts. I used the 2000 on the painted areas to clean and flaten the clear. Then buffed the painted areas with paint polish.
I buffed the aluminum with cleaners like blue magic. I even hit them with a wool pad.
They could be alot better if i used the right stuff. I plan to buff them with some wheels and compounds made just for this type of thing. IM going to have the rears widened to 9". so i dont want to do to much to them till thats done. In case they scratch them up during the welding work.

Somewhere around 150.00 a rim...is what i have been hearing.
Stock backspacing is around 4 7/8 on the rear give or take a few. So 1" wider should work without problems. Theres always spacers if you need them.
I would like to run 9.5s but not sure what im doing just yet.
Could even take a set of fronts and put them on the rear this will give you more back space to work with.

Here are mine. I went with black inserts to make the spokes look thinner and giev the wheels a bigger look. I kinda miss them being on the car, and only could imagine what that 3gs I spent on wheels and tires could have bought(Turbo
).
