Emblem and RS question

I've got a 88 camaro and the original "camaro' emblems are in pretty bad shape. My brother has 3 new "RS" emblems that he never put on his 92 cause he sold it. The emblems are the gray and silver type so they match my car.

Was there ever a 88 RS camaro? Think it would be rice for me to put these on my 88 since it basically the same thing?

I don't think the emblems would look too bad. Since you do have an RS it wouldn't be quite as bad, Would look out of place though. Now, if you got the ground effects to match then it would look the right way. But i guess you could try it.

Your camaro is not an RS. The RS cars were 89-92 as the base models. The badges might look okay on your car so its definately worth trying.

From the Thirdgen FAQ:

"The RS option was first availible in 1987 and was present until 1992. From 1990 to 1992, the RS option was the lowest availible option as the base model Camaro was not produced."

In 1987-1988 there were very limited quantities only available in California. They were test vehicles to see the public's response to them. Apparently, they wanted the IROC look without the IROC power...kinda takes away from uniqueness of those vehicles.

If it is the SC version, it will have the incorrect GFX for a badge swap.

I had a 88 RS with a 2.8L and a five speed. I wish i had it still - It was lowered, Chrome Five star rims, tinted windows all around, New red paint and i put the 91-92 Z28 spoiler on it. It looked good but was slower than hell. Unfortunatly it was rearended in front of my friends house at about 60 Mph by a Honda Civic. I was standing right in front of the house across the street- It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen! There were 4 teens in the car all with out seatbelts and all of them flew right into the windshield- The driver broke his back and the rest were not that serious but were all blody from their heads. At first i was stunned, than i went to try to help them out and all that. About an hour later i looked about 60ft away from where my car was nailed and than realized that my car was killed( i have pics but dont know how to post them, the rear end and back seats were pushed right into my front seats ). It sucked but i got a pretty fat check from insurance and now look what i drive( in Sig )

Here's my 88 RS:

It's missing the stripe on the door, but i'm repainting it hugger orange w/ white stripes this summer. I painted it this way 5 years ago. Winters and road salt played hell, and i'm sick of the flames on the color choices.

Ummm... It sounded like a good idea 79 pontiac bright yellow with 70 porche magenta ground effects. Lot of people complement me. Mostly I get flamed.....

It will look similar (stripe layout) but i'm ditching the louvres and going with hugger orange/white. I have some rust to fix:

I hate bodywork.. My arm is achin' already.
