Oops, forgot to put text. First picture is obviously before my paint job. Second picture was today. I had them redo both bumpers because they weren't "perfect".

I know the hatch and the hood aren't on there, those I have yet to put on. Actually I put the hatch on tonight and will attach the rear spoiler tomorrow. My car originally was a Sport Coupe so I'm keeping the Sport Coupe spoiler on it. My hood came out great too, though I don't have any pictures of that yet. It's sitting in my garage.

A question though. Unfortunately my garage isn't one where you can put cars in (stupid previous owners converted it to some sound studio thing) so it will be sitting outside unless I can pursuade my neighbor to let me use her garage and to keep her car outside. Any tips or advice to give me about this? I do have a really good car cover but I know not to put it on the car right now cause it'll rub on the paint job and it won't let it cure. But any other advice?

depends on where you go noahTHEpurdy, you can get a cheap Maaco job for like $300 or you can get a real good show quality paint job for a couple thousand. All depends on how much you want to spend.

i dont know how maaco can charge as little as $300 for a paint job...with labor. no wonder they suck...lol. a gallon of paint alone is over $300...you only need 2 quarts to cover an fbody. so it's still around $200 for paint alone...plus reducer, and your clear coat. then any supplies you need to buy...paint gun, etc. assuming you already have an air compressor and air lines.

its rediculous how pricey this stuff is...esspecially red paint...i loathe the day i buy my red paint to paint my red formula in the spring...screw metal flake, pearl all the way lol.

u should really ask your neighboor to park in their garage. offer them money if necessary. u only have once chance to make sure ur paint doesnt get messed up right after u get it done. hope it doesnt rain anytime soon with that rear hatch gone...

It's southern California, it rarely rains :P But I put the hatch on already, did that after I got home, well after the pictures that is.

All is well though, when I get the interior done I will post pictures of it completed. That and when I get the hood on too.

One of my friends runs his own automotive restoration business. He basically did it on the side. For bout $1000, it's not too bad. That's including bodywork too.

Maaco basically uses Enamel paint (Kirker is popular around here) with a 'wet look' urethane hardener in it. $34/gal black, $13 hardener, $11/gal reducer.

It doesn't makes a squat of difference what you use for color... under a good clear.. nearly anything can look like a $5k paint job.

This is what uber cheap Kirker enamel with a basecoat stabilizer and PPG 2021 clear can look like..

I recognize that fenders, I have a dark olive and frost white one of those. Oddly enough, sprayed at a Maaco.

Here are the final pictures after everything is done. Nevermind the hood gap on the first picture.
