Opinions, please -- "Formula 400" markings

The new 400 should go under my '88 Formula's hood this weekend, so I'm starting to think about the new paint job. It's black and straight, so I'm gonna leave it black. But I'd like to give it some sort of "Formula 400" badging.

I'm going to put "6.6 LITRE F/I" on the sides of the hood bulge. For the rest of it, I'd like opinions on these options. Or a combination of these options. Or give me other ideas.

1. "FORMULA 400" in original factory-style lettering on the doors and the bumpers.

2. Original "FORMULA" on the doors and bumpers.

3. Buy a pair of reproduction '72-'73 model "Formula 400" fender emblems, and mount them in the same fender locations as on that year's. (Here's a link to see the emblem: http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/p...20AH50108&trk=). I would black out the chrome between the letters. Trouble (or coolness factor?) with this option is that this would be the only chrome on the entire car.

Thanks.

What about option #2 but add 400 after the formula. I'm sure any sticker company can find a decent match font.

I really don't like emblems/decals. I would just go with 6.6 Litre on the hood. Leave the doors alone - no decals on the doors. A formula is supposed to be somewhat of a sleeper. Maybe put Formula 400 in thirdgen style font on the rear bumper in the stock location for a decal, to let people know what beat them when they get their door blown off.

Thanks a bunch, guys. You all have affirmed my original idea. Basically, all original lettering on doors and bumpers, but "FORMULA 400" instead of just "FORMULA". Once spring and warmer weather rolls around, the body/paint is the next phase.

One thing to consider if you want to go Original looking Pontiac did not put Formula 350 on the doors AND 5.7 on the hood, it was one way or another. From 87-90 Formula 350's got "FORMULA 350" on the doors and nothing on the hood. In 91 & 92 all Formulas got just "FORMULA" on the doors and 5.7 Litre FI on the hood.

keep it in mind...

haha OKFOZ that is def something to keep in mind for me, i think i am going to leave all markings off the hood and put FORMULA 383 on the side of mine when i am done with the engine. Although i like how it looks without anything, decisions decisions.

Thanks. Mine originally is a Formula with a 305. It had both "5.0 LITRE F/I" on the hood and "FORMULA" on the doors.

Correct,
The decals from the FACTORY are as follows:
1987
Engine - Doors - Hood
LG4 - FORMULA - 5.0 Litre
LB9 - FORMULA - 5.0 Litre F.I.
L98 - FORMULA 350 - (Nothing)

88-90
Engine - Doors - Hood
LO3 - FORMULA - 5.0 Litre F.I.
LB9 - FORMULA - 5.0 Litre F.I.
L98 - FORMULA 350 - (Nothing)

91-92
LO3 - FORMULA - 5.0 Litre
LB9 - FORMULA - 5.0 Litre F.I.
L98 - FORMULA - 5.7 Litre F.I.

As a note the Trans Am's from 87-90 I believe got a similar decal on the fender below the air extractor, curiously some of these decals found their way onto the Hoods of the Formula 350 cars. According to my informaiton from Pontiac this is technically incorrect as that was not how the car was intended to be labeled. I suspect that it was a money thing, as Formula 350 on the doors and have 5.7 Litre F.I. On the hood would be redundant.
